Sage's confidence grew as she sent out Phantuff as the playful dog Pokémon barked happily as its tail began shaking in anticipation
Blue watched closely with a mix of jealousy and curiosity in his expression as he had never seen a Pokémon like Phantuff before and while he envied Sage's rare find, he couldn't help but wonder how it would perform in battle.
Lt. Surge, on the other hand, was taken aback.
What is that Pokémon?" Lt. Surge muttered as his eyes narrowed in a mix of admiration and worry as he had never seen Phantuff before and its unique Grass/Ghost typing made it even more intriguing.
Jolteon come on out" Lt. Surge said as he sent out the electric type Eeveelution.
Sage's Rotom Phone immediately buzzed and scanned Jolteon and displayed its Pokédex entry:

Phantuff, use Magical Leaf!" Sage ordered as Phantuff summoned a flurry of glowing leaves that spiraled toward Jolteon.
Jolteon use Thunderbolt!" Lt. Surge commanded.
The two attacks collided and created a shockwave that rippled through the battlefield and sent some chairs and dust flying.
Phantuff use Bitter Burst!" Sage shouted as she was determined to keep the pressure on.
Phantuff snarled and released a wave of dark energy from its mouth as the bitter energy enveloped Jolteon as Jolteon flinched from the unexpected attack as Lt. Surge's eyes widened in surprise as he hadn't anticipated the Grass/Ghost Pokémon to have such a powerful, disruptive move.
Jolteon, counter with Thunderbolt!" Lt. Surge ordered as he was trying to regain control.
But before Jolteon could fully unleash its electric assault, Sage was quick to react.
Phantuff use Poison Powder!" Sage called out.
Phantuff released a cloud of poisonous powder toward Jolteon as t powder settled over the Electric-type Pokémon as Jolteon shook itself but it was too late—the poison began to take effect.
Leaf cheered from the sidelines. "Great job, Sage! You're doing awesome!"
Red observed closely as he was studying Phantuff's moves and tactics as he seemed to be deep in thought as his eyes were locked on the Grass/Ghost Pokémon.
Blue, however, couldn't mask his jealousy as he had always prided himself on having strong, versatile Pokémon but Phantuff's rare and unique moveset had him feeling frustrated.
Jolteon use Thunder Wave!" Lt. Surge yelled as he was hoping to paralyze Phantuff before it could attack again.
Dodge, Phantuff!" Sage quickly commanded.
Phantuff attempted to evade the Thunder Wave but it was too late—the electric attack struck and paralyzed Phantuff as Sage flinched as the battle got more intense now that both Pokemon was heavily affected by the status conditions.
Jolteon, Quick Attack!" Lt. Surge called out as he was eager to take advantage of Phantuff's paralysis.
Jolteon dashed forward at breakneck speed, but Sage was ready.
Phantuff use Bitter Burst!" Sage shouted.
Phantuff released another wave of dark energy as Jolteon flinched from the force of the attack as the electric Pokemon halted immediately as its quick attack was stopped.
Phantuff use Shadow Punch!" Sage said as her voice was steady as she focused on finishing the battle.
Phantuff's front legs began to glow purple and with a swift leap, it punched Jolteon square in the face, sending the Electric-type Pokémon flying backward.
The two Pokémon were looking worse for wear as both were affected by status conditions—Jolteon by the poison and Phantuff by paralysis as the crowd of trainers watched with bated breath as they were waiting to see which Pokémon would falter first.
Phantuff use Thorn Storm!" Sage commanded as she was determined to finish this off.
Phantuff unleashed a barrage of thorns and fires them with precision at Jolteon as the thorns struck Jolteon three times as each hit added to the damage it had already sustained from the earlier attacks.
Lt. Surge, now visibly frustrated, shouted, "Jolteon use Thunderbolt!"
Jolteon, despite the poison and its weakened state, attempted to release a Thunderbolt but Sage was quick to act.
Phantuff use Bitter Burst!" Sage called out
The two attacks collided in a massive explosion as both Jolteon and Phantuff were caught in the blast and when the smoke cleared, both Pokémon were lying on the ground, fainted.
Jolteon and Phantuff is unable to battle!" the referee called out as Lt. Surge was left with one final Pokémon.
Sage stood strong as she recalled Phantuff as Sage only had two Pokemon left as she was determined to win her third Gym Badge.
