Sage, Leaf, Red and Blue were all standing in front of the Magnet Train station as they were ready to head to Saffron City but just as they were about to step onto the platform, Red suddenly spoke up.
Before we go, I want to have a 4-on-4 Pokémon battle with you, Sage and this time I won't lose" Red said as he wanted to make sure he was ready for the challenges up ahead in Saffron city.
Sage was surprised as the last time they battled was back in Pewter City and things had changed a lot since then.
Blue with his usual cocky grin, added.
Yeah, I want to battle Leaf too. What do you say, Leaf?" Blue asked as he remembered when Leaf had beat him in Viridian forest.
Sure, I'm up for it!" Leaf said with a smile.
Sage looked at Red and then at Blue and Leaf and agreed.
Alright, let's do this" Sage said with a smile.
Let's meet back here after the battles are done. Ready, Sage?" Red asked.
Ready" Sage replied as she was excited to test her skills.
Red and Sage walked to one part of Fuchsia City near the Pokémon Mart, while Blue and Leaf headed towards the Pokémon Zoo for their own battle.

Sage took a deep breath as she stood across from Red.
Let's make this interesting," she said as she reached for one her Pokéball.
Go, Shadebark!" Sage said as she sent out Shadebark as the Grass/Ghost Pokémon barked loudly as it emerged from the ball as Red nodded and sent out his Shiny Golduck with a flourish.
Let's do this, Golduck!" Red called out.
Shadebark use Shadow Ball!" Sage said with a smirk as Shadebark launched a swirling ball of dark energy at Golduck as Red immediately reacted.
Golduck, counter with Water Pulse!" Red called out.
The two attacks collided with a massive shockwave, sending ripples through the air.
Nice try,but let's turn it up!" Sage smiled as she said.
Shadebark use Magical Leaf!" Sage commanded as Shadebark unleashed a flurry of glowing leaves towards Golduck.
Dodge, Golduck!" Red called out as Golduck swiftly avoided the attack but Sage wasn't done.
Now use Thorn Storm!" Sage shouted.
Shadebark unleashed a barrage of sharp thorns, hitting Golduck four times as Red's face darkened as his Pokémon was poisoned by the toxic thorns.
Golduck use Aqua Tail!" Red called out as his eyes narrowed in determination as Golduck charged forward with its tail swirling with water as it aimed for Shadebark but Sage was ready.
Use Magical Leaf and counter it!" she commanded as Shadebark unleashed another Magical Leaf as both attacks collided again, sending up another shockwave as Red saw his chance and quickly shouted.
Golduck use Low Sweep!" Red called out as Golduck unleashed a low sweep that knocked Shadebark off its feet sending the Grass/Ghost flying back towards Sage as Sage heart skipped a beat.
Shadebark, no!" Sage cried out as she knew that if she didn't do something then Shadebark will lose.
Shadebark use Thorn Storm!" Sage yelled but in that moment, something unexpected happened.
Shadebark barked in response but instead of firing a barrage of thorns, a green energy ball formed in front of Shadebark and it was shot out towards Golduck as the ball hit its mark and knocked Golduck out cold.
Sage stood frozen in shock.
Did... did Shadebark just learn a new move?" Sage muttered.
Red stared in surprise.
Impressive, Sage" Red said with a small smile.
Sage checked her Rotom Phone as it buzzed and the screen displayed an update:

Energy Ball" Sage muttered as she was amazed as this move would be useful in the future
Red recalled his fainted Golduck as he said.
Golduck's down but I still have three Pokémon left and let's see how you handle them" Red said with a small smirk.
Sage grinned as she was ready for the next round.
Bring it on, Red. I'm not going down that easily" Sage said with a smirk.
Red now had three Pokémon left and Sage still had all four as the battle was heating up and Sage knew this was just the beginning.
