The tension in the gym was palpable as both trainers squared off.
Sage's Rotom Phone buzzed in her pocket and began scanning the opposing Pokémon and displaying Rapidash's Pokédex entry.
Rapidash the Fire Horse Pokémon: Rapidash is known for its blazing speed and fiery mane, which intensifies when it's riled up and it can also use its speed to quickly overwhelm opponents.
Rapidash use Flame Charge!" Blaine commanded with a swift battle cry, Rapidash ignited its flames and charged forward, increasing its speed as it closed the distance to Espeon.
Espeon use Psychic!" Sage ordered.
Espeon's eyes glowed a brilliant blue as it focused its energy and with a powerful telekinetic force, Rapidash was thrown backward and crashed into the wall with a resounding thud.
The impact created a deep crater but Rapidash quickly recovered as it was showing the spirit of a true fighter.
Rapidash use Fire Blast!" Blaine called out with his voice filled with determination.
Rapidash spun around and unleashed a massive burst of flames in the form of Fire Blast as the inferno soared towards Espeon with incredible speed.
Espeon, counter with Hyper Voice!" Sage shouted.
Espeon let out a mighty Hyper Voice with its powerful sonic wave crashing against Rapidash's fiery blast.
The two attacks collided, creating a shockwave that shook the gym and both Pokémon were sent stumbling back from the force but neither one gave up.
Espeon use Dazzling Gleam!" Sage called out as Espeon eyes glowed blue again as it released a dazzling wave of light, striking Rapidash head-on.
The Fire-type Pokemon was hit hard and the attack lowered its accuracy, leaving it vulnerable.
Rapidash use Flame Charge again!" Blaine called out.
Rapidash surged forward with its flames blazing once more as it attempted to strike Espeon.
Espeon, dodge and use Hyper Voice—point blank!" Sage commanded.
Espeon effortlessly dodged the incoming attack and in one fluid motion, unleashed Hyper Voice right in Rapidash's face.
The intense sonic wave hit with devastating force and Rapidash crumpled to the floor and fainted from the overwhelming power of the attack.
Sage stood victorious with a smile on her face as the battle came to an end.
Espeon turned to her with a pleased expression as it was clearly proud of its performance.
Blaine, grinning despite the loss, recalled his Rapidash.
You've got talent, Sage. I haven't seen a challenger like you in a long time" Blaine said.
Sage smiled with her heart swelling with pride.
Thanks, Blaine. That was an amazing battle" Sage said.
Blaine chuckled.
You've earned this, Sage." Blaine said as he handed over the Volcano Badge which was a symbol of Sage hard-fought victory and the seventh badge on her journey.
Sage accepted the badge with gratitude as the weight of it represented just how far she had come.
Time to beat the last gym and go to the Pokemon league" Sage said.
