As Sage finally reached the entrance to Viridian City she felt a surge of excitement as this was the first big city on her journey and the start of many more adventures.
But just as she stepped into the city she was approached by a woman in a police uniform with a stern yet friendly expression.
Hello there! I'm Officer Jenny," Officer Jenny said as she gave Sage a quick once-over.
Before you enter, can I see your Trainer ID, please?" Officer Jenny said.
Oh, of course!" Sage replied as she quickly pulled out her Rotom Phone as she navigated to her Trainer ID display and held it up for Officer Jenny to see.
Officer Jenny gave a satisfied nod.
Thank you, Sage. Everything looks good" Officer Jenny said.
Relieved, Sage smiled and decided to ask,
Is there something going on? You seem to be on high alert" Sage asked.
Officer Jenny's face grew serious.
Yes, we've received reports that Team Rocket members were spotted around Viridian City recently" Officer Jenny said.
Team Rocket? Who are they?" Sage asked
Jenny's expression grew even more concerned but she took a breath and explained.
Team Rocket is an organization of Pokémon thieves and criminals as they exploit Pokémon for profit and even treat them as tools rather than partners. They're infamous for their underhanded tactics and they'll stop at nothing to get what they want so If you encounter them, stay cautious. They're known to target young trainers especially those new to the journey" Officer Jenny said.
Sage's confusion turned to a mixture of anger and determination as the idea of anyone mistreating Pokémon made her blood boil as she looked down at Eevee and Charmander by her side as her resolve strengthening.
"Thanks for the warning, Officer Jenny. I'll be careful." Sage said.
Good. Just keep your Pokémon close, and don't hesitate to ask for help if you see anything suspicious. I'll be around" Officer Jenny said.
Sage gave her a nod and a quick thanks and then continued into Viridian City as her mind was racing as the thought of criminals like Team Rocket lurking nearby was unnerving but it also made her even more determined to protect her Pokémon and grow stronger..
With Eevee and Charmander by her side, Sage felt ready to explore Viridian City and tackle whatever challenges lay ahead as she knew this journey would be tougher than she expected but that only made her more excited.
