Sage stepped onto Route 1 as her heart was pounding with excitement as she took in the sight of the open path right in front her.
The route was lively and filled with the rustling of tall grass and the distant calls of wild Pokémon.
Charmander walked beside Sage as its tail flame was flickering brightly while Eevee was perched on Sage shoulder as it was looking around in amazement.
As they moved further down the path, Sage noticed a flurry of movement in the grass ahead.
Curious as to what it was, she slowed her pace and that's when she saw it—a small, feathered Pokémon hopping along the ground.
It was tiny with light brown and cream-colored feathers, a sharp beak and bright inquisitive eyes.
Sage recognized it immediately: it was a Pidgey the tiny bird Pokémon. She had read about Pidgey in books but seeing it up close was an entirely new experience.
Her Rotom Phone lit up and began scanning the Pokémon before displaying information on the screen.
Pidgey the Tiny Bird Pokémon. Normal and Flying Type. It is docile and prefers to avoid conflict. If disturbed, it can ferociously strike back with its sharp talons."
Sage's eyes lit up. Pidgey might be a common Pokémon but its calm and adaptable nature would be a great addition to her team.
Alright, Charmander, let's go!" Sage whispered as she didn't want to startle the Pidgey as Charmander stepped forward and was ready for action.
Charmander, use Scratch!" Sage commanded softly as Charmander dashed forward and began swiping at Pidgey with its small claws.
Startled and confused, Pidgey began flying and countered with a quick Tackle.
Charmander dodged the attack and steadied itself as it was awaiting Sage's next command.
Great job, Charmander! Now, let's try another Scratch!" Sage said.
Charmander launched forward again and landed a heavy hit on Pidgey.
Pidgey stumbled back as it was clearly weakened but still determined as Sage decided it was time to try her first capture.
She reached for an empty Poké Ball as her heart racing with excitement.
Alright, Poké Ball, go!" Sage shouted as she threw it toward Pidgey as the ball struck the tiny bird and began pulling it inside.
Sage held her breath as the Poké Ball wobbled once, twice... and then clicked, signaling a successful capture.
Sage broke into a grin as both Charmander and Eevee cheered in excitement besides her.
We did it!" Sage said as picked up the Poké Ball. "Welcome to the team, Pidgey."
Her journey had just begun and already she had a new friend by her side as with Pidgey's Poké Ball safely secured on her belt, Sage continued down Route 1 feeling more excited than ever for the adventures that awaited her and her growing team.
