With agility, Venomoth darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack.
Sage smirked, anticipating the dodge.
Pidgeot, follow up with Quick Attack!" Sage called out.
Pidgeot became a blur, dashing forward at lightning speed and slamming into Venomoth as the impact sent the Poison Moth Pokémon crashing to the ground near Janine.
Venomoth, are you okay?" Janine asked with concern in her tone.
Venomoth groaned but flapped its wings weakly, signaling its readiness to continue.
Good. Let's show them our strength! Venomoth use Sludge Bomb!" Janine said as Toxic sludge erupted from Venomoth and flew towards Pidgeot.
Pidgeot, dodge and use Storm Dance!" Sage countered.
Pidgeot narrowly avoided the poisonous attack and performed an elegant, rhythmic dance midair. Its movements became swifter as Sage's Rotom Phone displayed: "Pidgeot's Speed rose sharply!"
Venomoth use Agility!" Janine said.
The Poison Moth Pokémon moved erratically, its own speed increasing to match Pidgeot's as both Pokémon now zipped through the air at incredible speeds.
Pidgeot use Aerial Ace!" Sage called.
Venomoth, counter with Zen Headbutt!" Janine shouted.
The two Pokémon collided midair, Aerial Ace meeting the glowing psychic energy of Zen Headbutt as the resulting shockwave rocked the gym, sending both Pokémon flying into opposite walls.
Venomoth use Sludge Bomb again!" Janine called as Venomoth released another Sludge Bomb as the attack landed squarely on Pidgeot, causing it to groan in pain as Sage's Rotom Phone buzzed, displaying: "Critical hit detected".
Hang in there, Pidgeot! Use Wind Cannon!" Sage shouted in determination.
Pidgeot flapped its wings with immense force, generating a condensed ball of wind as the attack blasted toward Venomoth, who tried to dodge but was struck by the attack.
Sage's Rotom Phone displayed: "Venomoth's Speed fell sharply!"
Pidgeot, finish it with Air Slash!" Sage shouted.
Venomoth use Sludge Bomb!" Janine shouted.
The two attacks collided midair, creating an intense explosion of air and poison but Pidgeot's Air Slash overpowered the Sludge Bomb as Pidgeot attack hit Venomoth as the Poison Moth Pokémon fell to the ground and fainted.
The referee raised a flag. "Venomoth is unable to battle! Janine has one Pokémon remaining and Sage has two!"
Sage exhaled, wiping sweat from her brow as she returned Pidgeot to its Poké Ball.
You were amazing, Pidgeot. Take a rest" Sage said with a smile.
Janine recalled Venomoth, her smile unshaken.
Impressive, Sage but my next Pokémon will be the toughest challenge yet. Let's see if you can handle my ace!" Janine said
The battle wasn't over, but Sage felt her confidence building as she knew Janine's final Pokémon would be her strongest as Sage gripped her next Poké Ball tightly, determined to give it everything she had.
