Sage was just about to leave when she heard footsteps behind her as she turned around and saw her mother, Emma walking towards her with a gentle smile on her face and the family Eevee padding alongside her as Sage eyes widened in surprise.
Mom? What are you doing here?" Sage asked, a mix of curiosity and excitement in her voice.
Emma knelt down beside Eevee who looked up at Sage with bright and eager eyes.
It seems Eevee doesn't want to stay behind. She wants to go with you, Sage. She's been watching you prepare for this journey and I think she wants to be by your side" Emma said with a smile.
Sage looked down at Eevee as her heart was swelling with emotion as the little Pokémon had been a loyal friend for as long as she could remember and knowing Eevee wanted to join her made this moment even more special.
Emma extended a Poké Ball to Sage.
Here, take this. Eevee will be happiest Pokemon on earth going on adventures with you" Emma said.
Sage took the Poké Ball as she was feeling a surge of gratitude as she looked at her mom and then to Eevee and said.
Thank you, Mom and thank you, Eevee. I'll take good care of you—I promise" Sage said.
With one last hug from her mom, Emma gave her an encouraging smile before turning to head back home.
As soon as her mom was out of sight, Sage's Rotom Phone beeped and a digital voice chimed.
New Pokémon added to the Pokédex. Eevee the Evolution Pokémon. Normal Type. Its genetic code is unstable so it could evolve in a variety of ways. There are only a few alive.
Sage smiled as she was feeling lucky to have such a rare and special partner on her team as she opened the Rotom Phone's display to check Eevee's moves which was Tackle, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, and Helping Hand. Each move felt like an important part of Eevee's character.
With a glance down at Eevee and a nod toward Charmander as Sage felt her confidence grow.

With Eevee and Charmander by her side as Sage took her first steps onto Route 1, feeling more ready than ever for the journey that lay ahead.
