Sage and Leaf smiled at each other as both trainers was happy to see how far they've progressed in their training as they each took out their Pokéball as they were determined to win this battle.
Pidgeotto, I choose you!" Sage said as she sent out her trusty Flying-type Pokemon.
Ivysaur, I choose you!" Leaf said as she sent out her grass type Starter Pokemon.
Sage's mind raced as she analyzed the situation as Ivysaur was a strong Grass-type due to its poison type advantage but Pidgeotto had the speed advantage.
Pidgeotto, use Gale Slash!" Sage said.
In an instant, Pidgeotto shot forward with its wings cutting through the air like blades but Leaf wasn't about to give up.
Ivysaur use Venoshock!" Leaf called out.
The two attacks collided with a deafening crash, creating an explosion of energy as the force of the impact sent both Pokémon reeling but neither trainer hesitated.
Pidgeotto, fly high!" Sage called out.
Pidgeotto flapped its wings powerfully as it ascended quickly into the sky to avoid any further attacks as Leaf wasted no time.
Ivysaur use Magical Leaf!" Leaf commanded.
Ivysaur shot out a flurry of glowing leaves, which homed in on Pidgeotto.
Pidgeotto use Quick Attack!" Sage shouted.
Pidgeotto zipped through the air and evaded the leaves with incredible speed and then streaked down to strike Ivysaur with a powerful hit, sending the grass starter crashing into a nearby tree.
Ivysaur!" Leaf called out with worry in her voice but the Grass-type quickly recovered as it glared at Pidgeotto.
Pidgeotto use Gust!" Sage said
Pidgeotto flapped its wings forcefully as it created a powerful gust of wind that headed straight for Ivysaur but Leaf was ready.
Ivysaur use Protect!" Leaf shouted.
Ivysaur created a shimmering barrier of energy around itself as the gust slammed into it, causing the wind to swirl harmlessly around the Ivysaur as Sage saw an opening as the barrier disappeared.
Pidgeotto use Quick Attack again!" Sage called out
Pidgeotto darted forward at incredible speed and landed another swift blow to Ivysaur as the dual Grass-type staggered back in pain.
Ivysaur use Venoshock again!" Leaf commanded.
Pidgeotto use Gust again!" Sage shouted.
Pidgeotto flapped its wings furiously but then Leaf and Sage immediately noticed something as Pidgeotto flew down towards Ivysaur at the breakneck speed as the bird Pokemon was surrounded in a bright white aura.
Wait... What's going on?" Sage wondered
With a burst of energy, Pidgeotto dodged the incoming Venoshock and slammed directly into Ivysaur with a force that sent the Grass-type flying through the air.
Ivysaur crashed to the ground with a soft thud and fainted from the impac as the battlefield fell silent for a moment as Sage's Pidgeotto hovered in the air as it was flapping its wings gently.
What just happened?" Sage said in confusion as her Rotom Phone buzzed and displayed a message.
Pidgeotto has learned the move Aerial Ace and has forgotten Gust.
Aerial Ace? That was it!" Sage exclaimed as she realized that Pidgeotto had unlocked a new move during the battle—a move that allowed it to strike with pinpoint accuracy and overwhelming force.
Leaf smiled, though there was a touch of surprise in her expression.
You've got a strong team, Sage. I didn't expect that move from Pidgeotto" Leaf said.
