Sage stood firm as she watched as Daisy recalled her fainted Marowak and sent out her next Pokémon which was a Dugtrio.
Sage's Rotom Phone buzzed and quickly displayed Dugtrio's Pokédex entry.
Dugtrio the Mole Pokémon: It burrows through the earth, creating massive holes and causing powerful tremors and it can move underground at incredible speed.
Dugtrio use Earthquake!" Daisy called out
Blastoise, brace yourself!" Sage shouted.
Dugtrio slammed its three heads into the ground, creating an earth-shaking tremor that rocked the gym as the force of the quake made the floor ripple as Blastoise gritted its teeth and took the hit.
While Blastoise was shaken but the attack, the Water-type Pokemon was still standing strong.
Nice try but not enough to knock us out!" Sage grinned.
Blastoise use Aqua Jet!" Sage called out.
Blastoise shot forward in a burst of water with its body surrounded by a powerful stream that carried it straight at Dugtrio.
Blastoise slammed into Dugtrio sending the ground type Pokemon flying into the air with a startled yelp before crashing back down onto the battlefield.
Now, Blastoise use Aqua Tail!" Sage commanded
Blastoise surged forward with incredible speed with its tail enveloped in water as it slammed is tail into Dugtrio as the powerful strike sent Dugtrio crashing into the gym wall with a tremendous crash.
Daisy narrowed her eyes as she was clearly not backing down.
Dugtrio use Dig!" Daisy called out.
In the blink of an eye, Dugtrio burrowed underground as it disappeared from sight as Blastoise scanned the area as it was searching for Dugtrio
Stay alert, Blastoise" Sage said as suddenly, Dugtrio erupted from beneath Blastoise and launched a surprise attack as the impact sent Blastoise reeling but the Water-type Pokémon regained its balance just in time.
Blastoise, counter with Scald!" Sage ordered.
Blastoise let out a fierce roar as it unleashed a blast of scalding hot water that hit Dugtrio dead-on as the attack burned Dugtrio and Sage could see the Ground-type Pokémon struggle with its movements slower now.
Daisy's expression flickered for a moment but she quickly regained her composure.
Dugtrio use Dig again!" Daisy called out
Blastoise use Skull Bash!" Sage shouted.
As Dugtrio dove back into the ground, Blastoise began charging up its attack with its defense increasing as it powered up as it prepared for the perfect strike.
The ground rumbled as Dugtrio emerged once again but this time, Blastoise was ready and without missing a beat, Blastoise's head collided with Dugtrio in a devastating Skull Bash, sending the mole Pokémon hurtling into the gym wall with an explosive crash.
Daisy stood silent for a moment as she watched on as Dugtrio slumped to the ground, fainted.
Sage smiled, a sense of triumph washing over her.
That's one more down. You're down to your last Pokémon, Daisy" Sage said.
Daisy recalled Dugtrio with her eyes narrowed in determination as she had one more chance to turn the tide of battle.
Sage could feel the weight of the moment as the battle was nearing its climax and she was ready for whatever Daisy threw at her next.
