Sage stepped onto the grassy path of Route 5 as her heart was filled with excitement as she was finally getting closer to Vermilion City, and she couldn't wait to meet up with her rivals, Red, Leaf and Blue.
She wondered what types of Pokemon they captured and how far they've come since the last time she saw them.
Sage's footsteps echoed in the quiet of the route as she imagined how much stronger her rivals must have gotten and as much as she was excited for their reunion she was also determined to show just how far she had come on her own journey.
Suddenly her Rotom Phone began to ring as Sage's eyes widened as she saw the caller ID—Leaf.
Hey, Sage! Long time no see!" Leaf's voice came through the speaker.
I haven't seen you in forever! How's everything going?" Sage asked excitedly
I'm in Route 6, waiting for you! I've been training hard and I'm ready for a battle! So hurry up and get over here!" Leaf said with a hint of determination in her voice.
Alright, alright! I'm on my way!" Sage said as she quickly ended the call and began walking briskly toward Route 6 as she was eager to meet her rival and best friend for a battle but as she walked, something caught her eye.
Up ahead, standing near the entrance of the underground tunnel that led under Saffron City, was Officer Jenny as Sage smiled as she was glad to see Officer Jenny again.
Officer Jenny saw Sage and smiled as she said.
Well, well, if it isn't Sage. Long time no see" Officer Jenny said with a kind smile.
What are you doing here, Officer Jenny?" Sage asked curiously.
I'm here to make sure no suspicious activity is going on around this area and Route 6 before I head to the S.S Anne party to guard a very special item for the captain" Officer Jenny said.
A special item? What kind of item?" Sage asked.
Officer Jenny glanced around before leaning in a bit closer as she began speaking in a quieter voice.
The captain recently found a very rare rock called the Lightning Rock and it is said to have a close connection to the legendary bird Pokémon, Zapdos" Officer Jenny said
So you think Team Rocket might try to steal it?" Sage asked.
There is a possibility and I refuse to let what happened at Pewter City museum happen again so I'll be guarding the rock very carefully" Officer Jenny said.
"I'll keep an eye out too" Sage said with determination in her voice.
Thanks, Sage. I knew I could count on you. You're always one to rise to the challenge" Officer Jenny smiled.
Sage gave her a quick nod as a feeling of determination began settling over her as she had no intention of letting Team Rocket or anyone else get their hands on something so powerful.
With that, Sage and Officer Jenny exchanged goodbyes and Sage quickly headed toward Route 6 as her mind buzzed with everything she had just learned but she couldn't forget her goal and that's to meet Leaf for their battle.
