Sage, Leaf, Blue and Red entered the Vermilion city gym as Sage and Leaf were surprised to see the gym for the first time as everything around the gym a mix of electricity and military equipment that made everything seem intimidating.
Blue and Red didn't react since they have already been here and gotten their gym badges already.
Hello" The gym guide said as she walked to the group and immediately recognized Blue and Red.
Oh, you two are back. Didn't you two already receive your gym badges already" the gym guide asked in confusion.
We're here to watch Sage battle Lt. Surge" Blue said with a smirk.
Yeah and after the S.S Anne party I will battle against Lt. Surge" Leaf said.
The gym guide nodded and handed Sage five fresh waters and proceeded to give Sage advice.
Lt. Surge has seen war many times in his life and he has earned his title around the world as the lightning american so in order to combat his electric type Pokemon you will need Ground types" The gym guide said as Sage frowned since she doesn't have any ground types.
Thanks" Sage said with a small smile.
As Sage ascended the stairs to the main battlefield, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves as she had heard stories about Lt. Surge's strength and his reputation as one of the most fearsome Electric-type trainers in the region but today, she was ready to prove herself.
At the top of the steps stood Lt. Surge the Gym Leader who looked at Sage with a cold gaze as if he was studying her soul.
You must be one of the girls Red and Blue mentioned. What's your name?" Lt. Surge asked.
Sage Parker" Sage said as she felt a little scared but she refused to show any weakness.
Ah, you're Chase's kid, huh? I've heard a lot about you from your father" Lt. Surge said with a grin.
You know my dad?" Sage asked in confusion.
Your father saved me during the war and if you are really his kid then you have no problem beating me" Lt. Surge said.
Sage couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at hearing her father's name mentioned in such a way and it made her even more determined to become a Pokemon master so she could become strong just like her father.
I won't let you down. I accept your challenge" Sage said with a determined look on her face.
Good. A three-on-three battle, then. Let's see what you've got" Lt. Surge said with a smirk.
(Battle Begin)
Charmeleon, I choose you!" Sage said as she sent out her starter Pokemon as Leaf, Blue and Red was surprised as they wondered what Sage strategy is.
Magnemite, show everyone your power!" Lt. Surge said as she sent of his Magnemite who looked ready to battle
Magnemite use Electro Ball!" Lt. Surge said immediately.
Charmeleon, counter with Flame Burst!" Sage called out.
Charmeleon immediately gathered fire in its mouth and released a compressed Fireball toward Magnemite and at the same time, Magnemite launched a fast Electro Ball in retaliation as the two attacks collided in midair, creating a massive explosion that sent smoke billowing into the air.
Charmeleon use Fire Fang!" Sage said with a smirk.
Charmeleon rushed through the smoke as it was the momentum to close the gap as Magnemite barely had time to react as Charmeleon's fiery jaws sank into the Electric-type Pokémon, sending it flying back.
Magnemite use Thunder Wave!" Lt. Surge barked as he was hoping to paralyze Charmeleon.
Charmeleon, dodge it!" Sage ordered as Charmeleon narrowly sidestepped the Thunder Wave and avoided the paralysis.
Now, Charmeleon use Fire Fang again!" Sage commanded.
Charmeleon lunged forward once more as its fangs glowed with fiery energy as the attack struck Magnemite and the Electric-type Pokémon let out a high-pitched cry as it was burned by the fire.
Leaf cheered from the sidelines"Go, Sage! You've got this!"
Blue smirked but stayed silent as he was observing the battle closely, while Red gave a small, encouraging nod.
Magnemite, still reeling from the burn wasn't down yet as Lt. Surge gritted his teeth.
Magnemite use Spark!" Lt. Surge said.
Charmeleon, counter with Metal Claw!" Sage called out.
Charmeleon and Magnemite's attacks collided, creating a shockwave that sent both Pokémon flying back as they still had energy for one final attack.
Magnemite use Gyro Ball!" Lt. Surge shouted as he was hoping to land a decisive blow.
Sage's eyes narrowed. "Charmeleon, end this with Flame Burst!"
Charmeleon gathered its fiery energy and shot the intense Fireball straight toward Magnemite and at the same time, Magnemite spun rapidly and launched itself at Charmeleon as the two attacks collided in an explosive burst of energy, filling the arena with blinding light.
When the smoke cleared, Magnemite was sent crashing into a wall and fainted from the sheer force of the explosion.
Magnemite is unable to battle!" the referee announced.
Leaf, Blue and Red all reacted at once as Leaf cheered loudly, Blue smirking in approval and Red gave Sage an encouraging nod.
Lt. Surge, though clearly disappointed, gave Sage a grudging smile.
Not bad, kid. You've earned my respect" Lt. Surge said with a smile
Sage, feeling a rush of accomplishment, grinned back.
This is just the beginning" Sage said with confidence in her tone.
Lt. Surge nodded, already reaching for his next Pokéball. "Let's see how you handle my next Pokémon!"
