Sana sighed as she flipped through the case file, her brow furrowed in concentration. Another case about a cheating spouse, typical. As an amateur private investigator, these types of jobs paid bills but didn't exactly get the detective in her to show up, which meant that it was just another boring case to solve.
She glanced up as her partner, Tzuyu, strode into their small, cluttered office with two coffees in hand. "Up burning the midnight oil again, unnie?" Tzuyu asked with a smile, setting one of the cups on Sana's desk.
"You know me, just living the glamorous private investigator life," Sana replied dryly as she took a grateful sip of the strong brew, "Mrs. Jeon suspects that her dear hubby is out and about with another woman and wants proof before she files for a divorce."
Tzuyu plopped down at her own desk, propping her feet up and clicking her tongue disapprovingly, "Ah, the classic. When are men going to learn that a wife always knows and will always figure it out one way or another?"
"Seriously, you'd think with all the incriminating texts and mysterious charges on the credit card statements, Mr. Jeon would be more discreet," Sana shook her head. Men could be so predictable sometimes.
"So what's the plan? Stake out the seedy motels? Trail him to some floozy's apartment and catch him in action?" Tzuyu asked, examining her boots with an air of boredom. Tailing cheating spouses was pretty standard for them at this point of their careers.
Sana chewed his lip thoughtfully, "Actually, Mrs. Jeon mentioned that her husband has been logging a lot of late nights in his office at the accounting firm recently. I'm thinking we should start there and see if we spot anything suspicious."
"Staking out an accounting firm. How riveting," Tzuyu drawled sarcastically, "Wake me up if anything interesting happens, like a rogue calculator attack."
Sana rolled her eyes but couldn't help grinning. Tzuyu's dry humour never failed to amuse her, even if her partner could be a bit of a pessimist at times.
"Come on, Tzu, where's your sense of adventure? This is a chance to see how the other half lives — crunching numbers and having scandalous trysts by the water cooler," Sana wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.
Tzuyu snorted, "Oh yes, I bet illicit spreadsheet sharing really gets the blood pumping. Those accountants are a wild bunch."
"You'll never know, still waters run deep and all that," Sana fluttered her lashes conspiratorially, "You can come pick me up at 8 tonight and we can grab dinner together on the way."
"It's a date then," Tzuyu winked before turning back to her own stack of case files. As Sana watched her partner get to work, she couldn't help but feel a small thrill of excitement, despite the mundane nature of the case. Solving mysteries, no matter how small, with her smart, sassy and admittedly attractive partner was always the best part of the job. Even if said partner was more likely to throw sarcastic quips her way.

Later that evening, the two young women sat parked across the street from Jeon Accounting, sipping on coffees and munching on tacos as they watched the building entrance. It was after 9 at night but a few lights still glowed through the office windows.
"Riveting stuff," Tzuyu deadpanned as she crumpled up her taco wrapper and tossed it into the plastic bag, "I can barely contain my excitement. Yay."
"Patience, my dear Watson," Sana tutted, eyes glued to the glass doors, "All in due time."
Tzuyu side-eyed her, "Excuse you. I'm clearly Sherlock in this scenario, you're Watson."
"What? No way, I'm the brains of this operation," Sana argued, "You're like my snarky, impulsive sidekick."
