Sana stood frozen before the towering mansion before her, her stylist fluffing the collar of her designer coat while producers buzzed around her like caffeine-fueled hornets.
"Are you ready to meet your 'potential' lover?" the assistant director asked, sneering behind her clipboard, eyes gleaming with mischief.
"I'm ready to fire my manager. I never agreed to be on this season of Showstopper," Sana muttered, stepping into the camera's view with a faux, sparkling smile.
The show was called Showstopper. Ten contestants, one famous celebrity. Every week, a contestant was eliminated until one was left standing, the one 'true love' as the directors had decided.
Sana didn't believe in love, not anymore. Not since Tzuyu.
"Okay, cameras rolling in five! Sana, I want you to walk slowly down the garden path. Let every step scream confidence and charm!"
She exhaled.
The gates opened and spotlights lit up.
And then—"Introducing...our surprise contestant!"
Sana froze mid-step.
No.
No, no, no. This was definitely not part of the script.
The spotlight revealed a woman in a sleek black suit, posture confident yet stiff.
Tzuyu.
Sana's ex-girlfriend. The one she had never gotten over. The one she had left before fame could hurt them even more than it already did.
Tzuyu blinked under the lights, clearly just as surprised.
"You have got to be kidding me," Tzuyu whispered, just loud enough for the microphone to catch it.
"Did you sign up for this?" Sana asked, jaw tight.
"No, they told me it was an office-themed reality show," Tzuyu deadpanned, voice laced with biting sarcasm.
Sana almost laughed, except her heart was sprinting like it was in the Olympics.
The host clapped her hands, "Oh, would you look at that? Sparks already! Let's start with a group date. All the contestants to the pool!"

Later that evening, the mansion's lounge throbbed with hollow laughter and overflowing wine glasses. Sana swirled her champagne, her mind drowning out the drone of a man boasting about crypto fortunes.
Across the pool, Tzuyu sat alone, cradling a glass of apple juice like a lifeline. Sana remembered—Tzuyu never drank in front of others. Remembered too much.
Compelled beyond reason, Sana slipped away and approached her.
"You always hated parties."
Tzuyu's gaze remained fixed on the water, "You always dragged me to them."
"Still bitter?"
"Still famous?"
Ouch.
"Why are you here, Tzuyu?"
"Maybe fate wanted to punch us both in the face and thought this would be the perfect."
Sana raised a brow, "You think this is fate?"
"I think whoever casted this show has a cruel, twisted sense of humour," Tzuyu said.
Silence fell, thick and suffocating, before Sana's eyes softened.
"You look good," Sana murmured.
Tzuyu finally turned towards her, eyes unreadable, "You look the same."
