Living with Tzuyu wasn't as bad as Sana thought it would be. Sure, there were times when Tzuyu teased the hell out of her, trying her best to get Sana to crack another smile, but it wasn't anything Sana couldn't handle. She was executing the nonchalant act perfectly, only answering Tzuyu's remarks with a slight raise of her eyebrow or a scoff. It was all going great until that particular night.
Sana had just met the last patient of the day and was finishing up the necessary paperwork when a knock on the wooden door resounded. She looked up from her computer, confused. There wasn't supposed to be anyone else coming to see her today.
Just before Sana could overthink the simple knock, the person on the other side of the door asked, "Can I come in, Sana unnie?"
That brought out a sigh of relief from Sana as she recognised Tzuyu's voice and uttered a quiet 'Come in!'. Tzuyu walked into the room and settled into one of the chairs in front of Sana's desk. As she continued typing on her computer, Sana asked, "What are you doing here, Tzuyu?"
Tzuyu opened her mouth and hesitated before she shrugged and replied, "I just wanted to wait for you today. Y'know...make sure you get home safe."
Sana quickly assessed Tzuyu's rigid posture and the way her eyes looked elsewhere. "There's something you aren't saying. What is it?" Sana narrowed her eyes, leaning back into her chair. Tzuyu shook her head as a wide grin appeared on her face, "You're overthinking it, unnie. There's really nothing!"
"The underlying hesitation in your tone says otherwise," Sana quickly stated, walking around her desk until she's standing in front of Tzuyu, "Out with it."
Tzuyu sighed before rubbing her face with a hand and recounted, "I went to check up on your apartment today and saw you ex loitering around. You told me that your ex knows where you work so I thought it would be safer if I came to pick you up from work nowadays."
The news about her ex caused a shiver to run down her spine as she imagined Seokmin pacing in front of her apartment with that mad gleam in his eyes. Definitely not someone Sana wanted to meet when walking home alone at night. Sana then looked back at Tzuyu, gratitude shining in her eyes, "Thank you for doing all this, Tzuyu."
"Of course! Can't have my favourite doctor getting chased by her clingy ex," Tzuyu joked, diffusing the tension in the air. Sana made quick work of wrapping up everything and was out her office door with Tzuyu within the next half an hour. They walked back to the apartment in silence, only stopping to pick dinner up.
The moment they reached Tzuyu's apartment, Tzuyu made Sana go wash up as she plated their dinner and waited at the dining table. Another bout of silence surrounded them as they ate their dinner until Sana broke it.
"Thank you for everything you've done for me, Tzuyu."
Tzuyu only smiled in response, without looking up, before turning her attention back to her plate. The younger woman had never been this quiet throughout Sana's entire stay with her and all this silence from Tzuyu was starting to get worrying.
"What's wrong, Tzu?"
The little nickname managed to pull Tzuyu out of her trance as she looked up at Sana. Sana could see the conflict happening behind Tzuyu's worried eyes and she waited patiently for the younger woman to collect her thoughts.
"I'm worried for you, Sana. That ex of yours is crazy and unpredictable."
A small smile appeared on Sana's face as she realised how much Tzuyu cared for her. "I'll manage, Tzu. You've helped me a lot this two weeks by letting me stay over. Don't worry too much," Sana giggled, standing up to clear the dishes and ruffling Tzuyu's hair along the way.
