Chapter 86

3rd Person POV
The next world was quite an eerie one with a touch of Halloween. As they arrived, they noticed not only the scenery but the change in their appearances as well.

"This sure is a spooky place," Goofy said. "I bet the people here are scary-lookin' too."

"Don't worry. We look spooky, too," Donald said.

"Yeah. I mean, just look. Even though I'm not much of a fan of scary stuff, I'm cool with this cute look," (Y/N) said.

"If they scare us, we'll scare them right back!" Donald said.

"You think so?" Goofy asked.

Everyone then moved forward to the gate, which opened up by itself. Suddenly, after they went through, they heard an explosion coming from a house in the distance. Not only that, they also encountered Heartless. As they readied thethemselves, they noticed something about them.

"Is it just me, or is there something odd about the Heartless here?" Eve asked.

"Yeah. Now that you mention it, they're not trying to attack us or anything..." Sora said.

As they were about to look around, a voice that sounded like it came from a megaphone rang out.

"And now, allow me to introduce the master of terror, the king of nightmares-Jack Skellington!" A small man called the mayor announced.

The ghosts then moved out of the way one by one to present a well. Then, out of the well filled with green-colored water came an alomst skeletal figure wearing a black striped suit.

"Bravo, Jack! Bravo!" The mayor said while running up to Jack. "Those ghosts will be a big hit at this year's Halloween!"

"Thank you, thank you. But their movement still needs work. It's not scary enough," Jack said. "I want to strike bone-chilling terror. I'm going to consult the doctor." He then walked to the distant house.

"Then, I'll go attend to the decorations," the mayor said before walking away.

"Huh. Maybe the Heartless here are pretty harmless," (Y/N) said.

"Maybe that guy did something to calm them down," Eve said.

The gang then went into the house Jack went into. As they went inside, they noticed Jack and a doctor in a wheelchair trying to experiment on an unconscious Heartless.

"I don't understand. Maybe the guidance system was damaged in the explosion," Jack said.

"Nonsense. My devices are always perfect!" The doctor said.

While reading a huge guide in a book, Jack found something. "Oh, I've got it! Why, of course! The Heartless need a heart!" He said. "Doctor, do you think we can add a heart to that device?"

"Certainly. A heart's not all that complicated. Let's get to work," the doctor said as he moved his wheelchair to reach for something under the table.

"To make a heart, first take a container with a lock..." Jack read in the book.

The doctor then took out a heart with a lock on it. "We need the key to this thing first!" He said.

Donald then looked at Sora and (Y/N). "You're really gonna unlock it for them?" He asked.

"Why not? If they succeed, we won't have to fight the Heartless, right?" Sora said. "Besides, I want to see the Heartless dance, too. Don't you?"

"I think I kinda do..." Eve said.

"Not really..." Donald said.

"You do it, Sora," (Y/N) said.

After summoning his keyblade, he then went up to the heart and pointed his keyblade at it, shooting a small point of light at the keyhole.
