Chapter 99

The gang finally made it to the inside of Bowser's Castle as they made a stop near the Koopa Clown Cars.

"Here we are. Bowser's Castle," Mario said.

"Yeah," Ash said.

"Y'know, as much as I find it exciting to be here, I'm feeling kinda nervous..." Goombario said.

"Goombario, it's okay to be nervous. That's just the part of having that 'excitement' feeling, y'know?" Goh said.

"Okay. Got it!" Goombario said.

"Alright, now that it's settled, let's move!" (Y/N) said.

As the gang moved into the castle, every area they walked into was filled with Bowser's troops, even troops they had never encountered before. There was also lava, pools of lava surrounding some places.

Once they reached a vast area, they heard a voice boom out from somewhere.

"Bloooaaahhhhhhhh!!!! Welcome, worm! I'm called the Guard Door of Bowser's Castle. It's my job to keep suspicious types from entering," the statue at the end of the hall spoke. "You must be Mario. Let me guess... Do you want to go through here? Hmm?"

"Isn't it obvious? Of course, we do! After all, we have a score to settle with Bowser!" Bombette said.

"Are you standing squarely in front of me? OK... Then... I'll let you through," the Guard Door said.

Suddenly, a trap door opened underneath them, causing them to fall into a cage.

"Urgh... Everytime!" (Y/N) groaned.

"Gaaaah ha ha ha ha!! You fell for it, worm! You'll never escape from that impenetrable prison! Try all you like! All you'll do is exhaust yourself!" The Guard Door said from above. "I'll tell you what: if you make it back up here, I'll let you through. How's that? Ahhh ha ha ha! I know you'll never make it! I hope you have a good time shaking and crying in there! Gah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!"

"Wow! Gee! Thanks a lot!" Eve said sarcastically.

"I should've known Bowser would set up traps like this for us..." Kooper said.

Suddenly, Bombette noticed a cracked wall on the left before walking right towards it.

"Uh... Bombette?" Sushie said, a bit worried.

Then, as soon as she went to the wall, Bombette lit up and exploded, destroying the wall. The others, except Mario, (Y/N), Eve, Goombario, and Kooper looked on surprised.

"Found a path!" She said.

"I almost forgot she could break a wall with her explosions, but anyway, clever job, Bombette!" Bow said.

"Now, we can bust ourselves out! Let's hurry!" Parakarry said.

Everyone got out through the hole and traversed through the area filled with lava. Of course, there were some platforms they had to jump on to continue. Then, once they reached the end, they saw a blue Magikoopa talking with three Koopa Soldiers standing next to a switch.

"Uh-oh! Ma... Mario... is right... there! Now what are we supposed to do in this situation? Kammy Koopa told us something, but I'm drawing a total blank," Koopa Soldier A panicked.

"I think... she told us not to let him touch that switch..." Koopa Soldier B said.

"Oh... oh... no... Do you think that means we have to fight him?" Soldier A said.

"No!!!!! He'll wipe the floor with us!" Soldier C said.

"Stop your bellyaching! Who says we should be afraid of Mario, huh? He's not so bad!" The Magikoopa said. "Whatever happens, we can't let him push this switch! Don't you care that King Bowser needs our help? C'mon!! Take this... plumber!! Show him what you're made of!!"
