Chapter 139

The gang finally made it to Forlock, a village at a swamp hidden in the trees. When they got to that area, there was barely anyone coming out of their homes.

"So, this is Forlock Forest... Hmm... It's pretty quiet," (Y/N) said.

"Melo..." Meloetta said.

"Do you think everyone's gone?" Eve asked.

"Maybe they were hiding," Huepow said.

"Could be. That aside, let's go find Granny! She might know something about all this!" Klonoa said.

Everyone then moved forward to find Granny. As they tread through the forest, the whole area was being invaded by monsters sent by Joka and Ghadius, which led to no other choice to eliminate them before they were given the chance to continue. Suddenly, one they got to a certain point in the forest, they came across a large door that seemed to be closed.

"It's locked..." Eve said.

"So, what now?" (Y/N) asked.

"Intruders!" A voice said. Then, one of the guardians of the forest holding a pitchfork appeared.

"Who are you?!" He said.

"W-Wait a second! I'm Klonoa, from Breezegale! And these are my friends! My Grandpa sent us! We're on our way to see Granny!" Klonoa said to the boy.

The guardian then lowered his pitchfork, understanding Klonoa's good intentions.

"Oh... Sorry. Strangers, wandering around recently," He said.

"Etta?" Meloetta said.

"Door with picture of key, need key. Use this key," the guardian said before handing Klonoa a key.

"Okay... Thank you!" Klonoa responded.

"But one key, one door. Forget not," the guardian said.

"Got it," (Y/N) said.

"Then, farewell," the guardian said before he left.

Afterward, the gang then used the key to open the door, giving them the the chance to press onward through the forest. As they continued, there were more doors, like the one they encountered earlier, that had the same lock for the key they got from the forest guardian. The heroes continued onward until they encountered a small soldier.

"Um, are you thinking of going beyond here?" The soldier asked.

"Err... That's our plan..." Klonoa said.

"No can do. The Ferry Tree has withered, so you can't go any further," the soldier.

"So, does this mean we're stuck here from now on?" (Y/N) said.

"Hey, who are you anyways?" Huepow asked.

"I'm a soldier from Jugpot, the Water Kingdom. I was on a official mission to see Forlock's Granny... But it looks like I'm stuck here now..." The soldier said.

"That reminds me. Did something happen in Jugpot?" Eve asked.

"That's a matter of the Kingdom!" The soldier said.

"Well, excuse me for asking..." Eve mumbled with a pout.

"And we thought Granny could restore our King somehow..." The soldier said.

"Etta?" Meloetta said.

"Errrrr... Nothing, nevermind. It's not safe for little kids! You should go home," the soldier said.

"Something's..." Klonoa said.

"Strange..." Huepow added.

"No kidding," (Y/N) said. "You think this has something to do with Ghadius?"
