Soulmates AU

(Requested by Cat1bhere! I'm trying to make this as non-cliche as I possibly can, so I'm using a version of this AU I haven't seen anyone write about (I have gotten this off a video, though). Sorry if you have written about this or know a fanfic like this; I'm not trying to steal someone's idea.

This soulmate AU states that everyone has a counter above their head, like a timer, that can only be seen by a special pair of binoculars. This clock ticks down until it hits zero, which is the moment the person will truely meet their soulmate. I got this off of an old video my friend showed me call 'My countdown is a zero'. This also is kind of a high school AU, too.)

    "Come on! Just check the damn timer already!" Tom stated, impatiently, as his friend, Edd, grabbed his binoculars out of his bag.
   "Just wait a second!" Edd replied, switching the thing on and putting it up to his eyes, looking above Tom's head.
   "So...?"
   "It only has thirty minutes left." Edd stated, setting down the binoculars. "Got any weird feeling that you should be somewhere?"
   "Nope! I feel like I should stay right here: in this spot." Tom stated proudly, excited to meet his soulmate. Edd laughed. He has already found his soulmate, a boy named Matt Sade, and was pretty excited for Tom to find out who he was meant to be with.

   After a few minutes of the two talking about who it could be, Tom looked around, looking at his watch swiftly.
   "Edd, check the timer." Edd noddedand grabbed his goggles, looking at the timer.
   "It's at zero!" Edd stated happily and Tom looked around again. There was no one around them, except for one person who was a few feet away from them with his friend. Tom glared at the taller figure, knowing fully who it was. It was his enemy at school: Tord Audet.

  

   "Paul! Come on! Check the damn thing!" Tord almost jumped up and down in place as Paul rolled his eyes and pulled out his goggles one more time to check Tord's timer.
   "It's at zero, like I said." Paul chuckled and spotted Tom and Edd over at the bench. "Hey, isn't that your enemies?" He asked and Tord looked around to Tom and Edd.
   "Yeah... hold up." Tord stated, noticing no one else around. He walked up to Edd and Tom, Paul following behind him.

   "Hello, Audet." Tom sneered.
   "Cut the crap right now, Spaventa." Tord retorted back. "Are any one of you looking for their soulmate?"
    "Yeah. I am." Tom stated and stood up, glaring up at Tord. "Why?"
   "Because I am too. My timer hit zero when I walked near you two."
   "Strange... Tom's hit at the moment too...." Edd stated and thought for a moment. "Wait a second.."
   Edd and Paul both pulled out their binoculars and checked the timers above the two, seeing a green checkmark before it faded.
   "You two are soulmates!" Paul gasped, dropping the cigarette that hung out of his mouth.
   "WHAT?! NO!" Tom screeched. "THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!"
   "Well, me and Paul already have soulmates." Edd stated and stood up. Tord looked down at Tom and smiled gently.
   "So... I'm meant to be with you?"
   "I hate you, and I'll never love you." Tom growled.
   "Mhm. Whatever. You can't run from fate, honey." Tom glared up at him but relaxed gently.
   "..... fine." Tord chuckled at Tom, who looked down.
   "You give up?"
    "Yeah..."
    "Great." Tord looked at Edd and Paul. "You two can go now; I'm taking Tom out on a date."
   "Not even bothered to ask me, commie?!" Tom glared at Tord again, who laughed.
   "Well, then, want to go on a date?" Tom went silent for a moment.
   ".... sure..."
    "See? I knew you would say that!" Tord laughed again and kissed Tom's cheek, grabbing his hand, and leading him away, waving goodbye to Edd and Paul.
