The Boss' Nerd

The Memo

Come morning, Richard's mood did not improve.  He was still off from last night's happening.  He is still wondering why he is so affected of that girl. 
Maine, on the other hand, was already at the office doing her task before the suspension will take place today.  She organized the week's event for everyone to see and make sure everything is ironed out.  After an hour, she was done and prepare herself to go to HR for her compliance to her memo.  As she was about to go out the door, the opened and here comes the devil again. 
"Good morning!" She said as she was about to pass his boss.
"Why are you still here? You are suspended starting today!" Richard said, still in a foul mood.
"I know that, Sir! In fact, I was about to leave right now.  I just need to comply with the memo, so that there will be no complications on the part of the HR team.  They know that I am very much willing to be out of this office! Isn't it obvious?" Maine said.
"What did you just said?" Richard was surprised of the last part...
"You told me to leave now, since I am suspended.  And yet you are talking to me! My eye, Sir! You are answering your own questions...!" Maine said with a smirk...
"Shit! She reminded me of the girl I met last night, but that was impossible, that girl was so pretty and this nerd is a total opposite. But Richard, aminin mo basag ka din sa nerd na ito?

She passed beside him and he was surprised of the lingering scent she left.  She smelled like the pretty girl last night at the bar!

"Fuck, Richard! You are definitely under a spell of that pretty lady.  You are even seeing her on that nerd? Fuck, you were like comparing a stone to a gold.  Shut it up, you fool!" Richard reprimanded himself and took his office chair.  His mood just got worst.  He opened his laptop and was surprised of the e-mail he received from the "nerd".  It was the complete schedule of his activity plus it was arranged based on the urgency.  There was also a suggestion if he cannot make it, who will be his possible replacement.  Even the consequences if he ditch every appointment. 
"Wow! Just wow! She is that efficient! Richard said inwardly, admitted to himself that the "nerd" is really good on her assignment. 

He was checking her notes when HR Department notifications popped up. It told him that the memo was already signed and was already complied by the Ms. Mendoza and she will be suspended for a week.  Today will be the start and the next violation will be for fifteen days and then suspension. 
He felt some regret when he saw that the signature was already affixed at the memo.  He realized that she accepted it without questions.  He felt like he wanted to take it back.

"Fuck, Richard! What the hell happened to you? Why are you having second thoughts about the nerd.  Just because you were impressed at how witty and intelligent she is and how organized she is, you are getting softy! Fuck off, man! Wake up! She is the enemy and you have to do this for your mother.

He then fixed himself up and prepare for the meeting at 10 o'clock.  One of the major supplier.  He had no idea of what's the problem with them.  He was about to call his dad and was already dialing when he notice a note written on his ball pen holder. 

"Files at the left corner of your table.  The current dilemma and issues was already there as well, read and study!" - Maine

"Huh? What the hell? She really made her presence known on this part of the building.  And he can't help but smile.  Quietly thinking ahead. 

He then prepared himself for the meeting and since files are already at his table, do what he was told.  And when the meeting was done, he was elated that he was able to resolve this issue.  All he needs to do is to see that it will be carried upon as promised by the supplier.  He was able to make them agree by focusing on focal points as was mentioned on Maine's note and walla!!! The issue was resolved right there and then. 

This is the first time he was able to pull through a big challenge after her mother died. He gone wasted before this. And the feeling was so elating.  Ganito pala yung feeling na you are deciding something for an organization and every word you will speak will make you feel as if you were a vital part of it.  And if not if not for Maine's initiative, he will never able to pull this through.  He know nothing of this and how can he decide for something he is not even familiar with. 

"Yap! All Maine's... Good job, nerd!" Richard said inwardly and he felt proud but he didn't know why...
