The Partner

Nakaalis na si Richard after leaving for several hours sa hideout nila. Nagtataka man pero walang nagawa si Capt. Mendoza ng magpaalam ang binata na may importante siyang lalakarin. Even if she is worried, she can't detain the lieutenant, in lieu of protecting him in the guise of not allowing him out of her sight. She just need to trust him to take care of himself. Isa pa wala siyang karapatan na i-hold ang binata sa mga gusto niyang gawin since Hindi pa din opisyal na kasama ng grupo although he was assigned to join us temporarily for his re-training. He was not even supposed to join them during their last assault. He was there for the training not for a deadly assault where he almost misses his life because of his carelessness. Good thing, she was on time to see him being targeted by the goons.

She saw him smiling after being out for sometime kaya nagduda siya.

"Hmmmmmm, bakit kaya ang saya ng isang ito? Hindi kaya nakipagkita na naman ito sa mga babae niya?" Maine said to herself and felt a little pain upon drawing that conclusion. She was about to approach him, when her phone rang.

"Hello, Captain Mendoza here!" Maine uttered. She was puzzled when she heard two words coming from the general himself "Meeting. Re-group". Did she miss something? What's with the "re-group"? Why? Those were the questions playing on her head and she felt slightly irritated. Ayaw niya yung feeling na parang left out siya. That's why she feared oblivion. Yung tipong para kang isasabak sa giyera pero wala kang idea kung ilan ang kalaban at saan sila manggagaling! Regardless of whatever the reason, she assembled the group.

After thirty minutes, she was kinda surprised of seeing the general together with Mr. Faulkerson, her Tatay and the Chief of Staff.

"What the hell is happening right now? Why are they here?" Maine asked inwardly although she displayed stoic face. Despite the rising panic, thinking of the worst, she stayed calm. All of the team stood up to greet the group accordingly.

"Guys, I won't prolong this meeting, I just need some verification and assessment on something before making a final decision on an important matter" the Chief of Staff said right away, just right after he sat down. Everyone look at each other, except Richard, who look really calm and serious.
"Captain Mendoza, it's been a while since we have seen each other, how are you doing right now, Captain?" The chief said.
"We are currently after the tail of the RDG, Sir! And we have already uncover 80 percent of the group's identification. I just need a reliable infiltrator to unmasked the leader although we have the name.
"Good for you and the guys, but it is still the end game of this syndicate is what we are after so we need all the help we can get to finally end this and moved into another mission, correct Captain?" The commander in chief asked.
"Yes Sir, definitely!" Captain Mendoza said, slightly annoyed but still able to maintain her stoic expression. With this kind of conversation, she is hinting that something was about to happen that will change the facet of the team.
"Good. And what's your next move then, Captain?" Asked again by the chief.
"We are about to meet them up face to face, and since we have already unmasked their leader, we are ready for combat, Sir!" Dei said, confidence laced her voice.
"Then apparently based on the Intel, the group are trying to recruit more and is currently negotiating with foreigners to double their output." The general said.
"And that being said and reported to you, Captain, I will oversee this mission personally and the team will have a new team mate!" The chief then called Richard in front for formal introduction.
"Captain Mendoza, he will be your new partner. You will have the same authority on this mission. Whatever information regarding this group will be shared among the two of you and whatever the outcome of the decision will be equally shouldered between the two of you." The chief said, finality on his tone and any arguments coming from whoever will not be entertained.
And needless to say, Captain Mendoza was shocked!!!

A/N : Guys, I don't know if you are still interested in reading this update, but just the same thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.  It's been awhile since I left this story hanging and I have broken a promise to all of you that I will update more often.  And I'm sorry for the long delay.  Circumstances does not allow me or more of circumstances made me "rest" my pen for awhile. 

And hopefully, (coz I don't want to make a promise for a regular update) I will try my very best to end this story (w/out breaking from the plot) the soonest possible time...
