Starting Over Again

Come Monday morning, Maine reported back to work.  Her wounds are still taped carefully to hide it but the good thing is that is doesn't bother her anymore. She could move around again normally.  Upon entering the building, with her usual get up, coz she is still driving her ducati, she was then greeted again by the guard.  As usual, she surrendered her keys his Kuya Noel and was about to go directly to her sanctuary at the loo.  She will again change to her nerd getup.  It will still be her cover-up since she wanted to know the connection of Richard's cousin to the Red Dragon Group! Back to her nerd self, she then went out but was surprised to see Richard at the lobby, looking directly towards her direction.  She moved towards him to pay respect dahil alam ng lahat na ito ang boss niya!

"Good morning, Boss!" She greeted him with a small smile. 
They weren't able to talk after the heart to heart talk because Richard needs to go home to apologized to his dad.  She just hope that everything is good sa mag-ama. 

"Good morning, Ms. Mendoza! Are you reporting back to work? Are you really okay now?" Richard asked hesitantly, feeling shy.

"Yes, Boss! I am up and about! I got my bearings back.  Let me just check everything now to start the ball rolling today! Una na po ako sa taas, Boss!" Maine said and nod her head and was about to turn her back when she heard Richard whispered...

"Sabay na tayo, Captain!" And simply took her elbow to walk beside her.

"Boss! I am still incognito, so please be careful of that title!  It may coz chaos in our mission!" Maine whispered as well, reprimanded him.

"Opps, my bad! Ms. Mendoza... It will not happen again, I am sorry!" Richard said.

"Please do, Lieutenant! We should be more careful, with out suicide mission last week, there will be possibilities that we were already exposed.  But the group are still waiting when to strike so medyo ingat muna tayo, makiramdam muna tayo!" Maine explained to him.

They have reached the elevator and they went in, they were joined by two gossipers in the office greeted Richard and ignore Maine. 

"Good morning, Boss!" One of the lady said with matching beautiful eyes.

Richard notice how they look at Maine with disgust.  He wondered why...

"Good morning, ladies! Too early, I can see, good job!" He said with an air of authority.  No pa-cute banters.  Medyo nagulat ang dalawa dahil kelan lang e nakikipagbiruan pa ang boss nila sa kanila, yung tipong malandi din, but now parang may nag-iba! Pero hindi pa rin sila sumuko...

"Masyadong pormal ka yata ngayon, Boss.  Nahawa ka na ba kay nerd?" May kasama pang malanding tawa.  Nakita ni Richard na medyo tumaas ang kilay ni Maine pero hindi kumibo.  She just fixed her eyeglass and look at the floor indicator.  Medyo nakaramdam ng inis ang binata, he remembered ganito nga pala nila itrato si Maine noon.

"I just realized that I should listen to her more than listening to some who only look down on someone.  May problema ba tayo doon?" Richard asked irritatingly. 

Napatanga ang dalawang empleyado at good thing na they were already at their landing, medyo na-save sila! They said their goodbyes before stepping down from the elevator.

"Bakit hindi mo sila sinasagot? You have the right since isa ka na rin sa stockholders sa kompanyang ito!" Richard said

"Sa tingin mo, titigil sila? No, I will just give them more ammo pag nagsalita ako.  They will just twist the truth and I will only end up the as the liar!" Maine said, shrugging her shoulders off.

"But you have the papers to prove them...!" Richard said still cannot understand why she allowed it.

"You think I did not think of it but no, they won't either believe it coz they have already stories on their mind and you know what, the story was justified by the man's son as well... Catch my drift?" Maine said casually.

"Ummm, what do you mean?" Richard said, still confused.

"I was tagged as the president's paramour!" Maine said casually on time the elevator dinged telling them that they were already at their landing.  Maine walked towards the office leaving Richard feeling embarrassed upon realizing her innuendos.  He can't help but feel sad of what his "asshole" self did to Maine.  He can't help but think of something that could make up for his wrongdoings!  He saw Maine sat on her chair, opened her computer and check the papers on her table.  He came to her table...

"I am sorry...!" Richard said, remorse obvious on his face.

Maine looked at him directly on his eyes and said...

"It's okay, you undergone a very hard situation and we tend to do things even if we don't mean it that way.  So, Boss, forget about it, I am cool with it kasi kebs naman sa akin lahat yun.  It was already the talk even before you " joined" the gang... Hayaan mo na lang... Anyways, do you work, Boss... Mas maganda yun kesa problemahin natin sila, remember the 25%... Smile na...!" Maine said with matching small smile.  Richard can't help but admire this young lady more than he felt for the past days.  He us seeing her in a different light.  Sayang lang kailangan niya pa ring magtago sa pagiging nerd.  Pero parang mas maganda yata yun, wala siyang karibal! He smiled widely upon realizing this and Maine notice it since magkaharap lang sila.

"Ummm, Boss?? Boss?? Sabi ko po work, hindi mag daydream! Mamayang gabi nyo na lang po isipin ang mga babae ninyo!" Maine said.

"Ikaw na lang ang babae ko, maliban sa kapatid ko...!" He said and leave right away, leaving Maine wide-eyed and speechless...
