Real Talk

Maine can't help but think of what happened earlier but she tried to ignore it. She continue to work on the details of what had transpired during her absence and the things that will be happening on the days to come.  As she went through the schedule, she realized that next week is RFJ Group of Companies anniversary.  Oh, well it does not matter to her even before.  She just need to discuss this with the boss about the plans.  And as always, she organized everything.  This is the part she is waiting every year.  Why? It's not because she will join the celebration.  This is where she will have her rest.  Yes, she don't come to work the whole day kaya may "me" time siya.  She would rather spent that training or doing things with the kids.  She would rather spend her money on something worthwhile than the fabulous gowns that cost an arm or a leg and only for one day! Impractical right?  Anyways, she should have it on her priority list to discuss it with Richard.  She only have a week to prepare everything.  Good thing, she have a reliable assistant. 

Richard in the other hand is still annoyed with the what happened.  He also felt embarrassed of his wrongdoings towards Maine.  Medyo naiinis pa siya kasi parang hindi marunong magalit si Maine kaya parang ang unfair lang.  Oo, galit na galit siya sa akin dati, sobra kulang na lang ibitin ako, pero bakit sa iba kebs lang siya! Ni hindi mo kakikitaang apektado maliban sa pagtaas ng kilay.  If he were in her position baka naihagis ko na ito kung saan! Wala na itong work ngayon! He really needs to make it to Maine and he will start with these two gossipers!

Maine checked all the details laid in her table regarding the proposal for the company's anniversary next week.  Some suggested that they could have a soiree, or a beach treat for everyone together with their family, or a grand ballroom party.  She needs to know what will be the preference for her to set everything and be it done before this week.  She could file her leave Monday on the week of the celebration.  And as if this time, she also make up her mind as to what she will do on that week as well.  She had lapses on some of her mission, medyo bumagal ang reflexes niya so she decided to have an intense training together with the team! She will have at least three days for the training.  Friday is the celebration, as usual and no Saturday work after the celebration and the Sunday! She is already excited for the intense training! And with that thought, she had prepared a poll as to what will everybody wants on the celebration! She sent a meeting request for Richard, before sending out a poll through everyone's email. 

Richard, is still in deep thought when he heard his notifications, he then checked it right away and was wondering why Maine is asking for an abrupt meeting.  But since he is the boss, all correspondence are being seen into his direct email (for monitoring purposes), he saw a poll being sent by Maine, and upon reading the poll, he already had an idea of Maine's requested meeting.  He then approved right away (aba, chance na ulit na makausap ang dalaga, palalagpasin pa ba niya?).  He agreed and told her after lunch when everyone has already voted.  At least they could agree and approve it right on the spot.  He replied to it according to his preference and Maine approved.

Time flies, and Maine is busy with her proposal.  The poll has been decided and the people voted for a gala night.  She already prepared an estimated cost and good thing that the amount is practical.  She is done on her proposal and decided to fill-up the form of her leave of absence next week.  As company policy, she needs to notify the HR a week or two before the day of leave.  It was already sent and was approved by the HR without questions asked since its been a yearly thing for her already.  She was busy checking out the possible itinerary of her team, when she heard Richard's private office door clicked and came in Richard with a scowl on his face.
"O, anong yare? Busangot mukha nito...!" Maine said inwardly while looking at Richard, puzzled.
"Everyone is celebrating the company's success despite having financial problems, tapos ikaw mag leave ng araw na yon? Bakit?" Richard ranted right away.
"Oh, Boss! Kalma lang... It has been already a tradition for me na wala ako during celebration.  I am not part of "their" celebration ever since!" Maine smiled at his rant...

"But why? I can't understand why?" Richard is still confused.

"Do I need to list down the reasons why?" Maine said with a little smirk on her face.  Richard upon realizing her point, calmed down but still annoyed. 

"It will change from now on, starting this day!" Richard said with conviction!

"Okay lang ako, Boss! Sanay na ako, isa pa I need to do something more important that day kaya sakto yung mga date!" Maine said.

"And what is that? May I know?" Richard asked with a frown on his face.

"Re-training! I need it, the team need it.  Medyo bumagal ako e... Plus I need to stretch my limbs for therapy...! Maine said.

"Sama ako?" Richard said.

"The celebration is important, you need to be there.  Isa pa, there is still no official assignment papers for you to be part of the team, verbal lang!" Maine said.

"Pero it was decided na, dito ako sa team mo!" Richard whined upon realizing it.

"Okay, here's the deal! Pag nakakuha ka ng official letter from the general na maging part ng team ko, then sasama ka but if not, well... No extra baggage for us that day... Got it?" Maine said.  Alam niya mahirap mag secure ng papers in two weeks time kahit pa sabihin na may kapit ka sa loob.  Isa pa may manggagaling na recommendation papers sa kanya kaya pwede niya itong i-hold.
"Sige, if I will be able to do that, then you will come to the party as well... Fully made up... At sagot ko lahat!" Richard said, hesitantly...

Maine sensed his hesitation and smell her victory right away, agreed.  Alam naman niya na that will never happen in two weeks. That will be impossible!
Red tape in the Philippines is unbelievable!

"Then its on...!" Richard said with a ghost smile on his face...
