The Party

Richard's POV

Aminin man niya o hindi pero nasaktan siya na parang isang malaking pagkakamali ang ma-engage sa kanya! Na para bang wala na siyang nagawang tama at panira lang siya ng buhay ng may buhay! Para bang parusa para sa kanya ang naging fiancée ko!

Oh, well sabagay, baka nga nasobrahan na ako sa mga pinaggagagawa ko sa kanya! Ang ang pinakamalupit pa is yung pagbintangan ko siyang other woman and of all people, father ko pa! Madami na rin akong nasabi na hindi maganda sa kanya and no even a single day na hindi ko siya ininsulto! Habang iniisip ko ang lahat ng pinaggagagawa ko sa kanya noon, parang bigla akong nahiya! Malamang suklam na suklam na siya sa akin at hindi masikmura kahit man lang ang connection ng pangalan ko sa pangalan niya! Marahil tama siya, ganun na lang ang gagawin ko! Be invincible tonight para hindi matuloy ang mock engagement namin! At least kahit papaano mabawasan ang inis niya sa akin! He then decided to go somewhere to appease her hatred towards him.  He got his keys and got up!

"Aalis na ako! Ikaw na muna ang bahala dito!" Richard said before going out of the office!

Maine was surprised of his sudden flight.  She felt relieve but disappointed at the same! Relieve because she will have time para hamigin ang sarili at kumalma mula sa galit niya! But why is she disappointed? Bakit parang may panghihinayang? Naguhuluhan siya! She is still contemplating of what is happening to her when someone came in!

"Bes, may engagement party ka pala mamaya? May damit ka na ba?" Paolo asked excitedly.
"What? Alam  nyo na rin?" Maine asked...
"Oo naman, invitation was distributed over social media and since both your name are big in the business world, then probably everyone already know this union!" Paolo said, explaining, while she is checking her face.
"What???" Maine said, eyes bulging.
"Yes, Bes! Everyone knows this engagement already.  The party tonight is just to make it formal! Buti na lang flawless ka, wala magiging problema sa getup mo mamaya!" Paolo said. 
"Waitttt! Bes, ano to? Alam mong laro lang ito, bakit nakikisali ka rin???" Maine asked irritably.
"Bes, either or lang pagpipilian mo! Pakasal ka o pakasal ka?!!!" Paolo said casually...

"Ano to??? Wala akong say???" Maine asked Paolo...

"I already given you the choices, either pakasal ka or pakasal ka! Anong walang choice?" Paolo said.

"Baliw! Iisa lang yung choice at yun ang magpakasal sa hari ng yabang na yun!" Maine said.

"Anyways, we have already arrange your outfit tonight.  It over the rack kasi short notice e, as in literal na short, kanina lang!" Paolo said dejectedly.

"Bes, hindi naman matutuloy ang announcement pag wala ang isa hindi ba?" Maine asked.

"The formal announcement will not happen but the wedding, well, --- !" Paolo said.

"But as long as hindi magiging pormal, we can still back out naman di ba?" Maine said.

"Yap! Walang presentation pero tuloy pa din ang business party! Hindi na nila pwedeng bawiin yun!" Paoli said.

"Oh, well, if that's the case, sige I will be there...!" Maine said, with a smirk on her face...

"And what's with the smirk, young lady?" Paoli asked.

"Oh, well I am pretty sure that there will be no announcement later!" Maine confidently said.

"And why is that?" Paolo asked.

"I told him to be invincible tonight and he already left, few minutes before you arrived.  When would want to be engage with the nerd, anyways?" She said with a smirk and turn her back from Paolo!

"What the --- ?" Paolo said but was stopped with a warning glance from Maine...

"Ohhhkayyyy! So for this one, you need to be out in the office by noon, make sure that all your work are done before noon kasi you need beauty rest! Remember, your father gave the reported your picture which dispel your nerd thingy.  We need you to be at your normal self! Maganda din to, safe pa rin ang identity mo! Ohhh, wait! Where's your cover-up?" Paolo suddenly notice that she was not wearing her nerdy glasses!
"Oh, shoot! Nakita ako ng assistant ko na wala akong salamin!" Maine squealed.
"How long? Do you think she notice the absence of that thingy?" Paolo asked.
"Let me see!" She needs to make sure.  She got her eyeglasses and made a bun on her hair.  She came out and look for her assistant.  She observed everyone, thoroughly observed their exchanges and the only thing that they were talking about was the mock engagement! She even talked to her assistant, eye to eye, but no indication that's she was recognize.  Good thing that they were very much interested only on the mock engagement and the man himself, she was spared.  She came back to Paolo with a sigh of relief.  But same thing, dismayado ng konti.  This only means that no one cared for her unless its all about works and its workaround.  Oh, well, sanayan lang yan, nasanay na kaya siguro hindi na masyadong mabigat pag ganun ang treatment sa kanya...

"Okay, sunduin mo ako by noon. Kakain muna ako ng marami kasi malamang puro finger foods at salads  ang karamihan hands mamaya! Alam mo na gourmet dishes again, as usual!" Maine said and go back to her right away.  Paolo went out again with a promise of returning by noon!

Maine, after Paolo left, was still busy on her own thoughts but she manages to reign her mood in.  She will deal with everything one at a time and this should go first!  Come noon, no Richard reported back to the office, all correspondence on her table were all done. By 11, she was already done with everything.   Paolo was already in the parking lot when she went down. 

And the night has come, Maine is wearing a white dress and had her hair down.  Everyone was looking at her.  In fact, the moment she entered the party, everyone's eyes was on her.  She felt uncomfortable and all she wanted to do is to hide herself in her room.  But she has a mission! She needs an appearance para makawala sila sa aberyang ito!  She will beg his father not to continue with this craziness! She crosses the dragon's lair with intent to kill since wala dito si Hangin.  She will just devise a story that will plant a seed of doubt to his father's mind that she and Richard are not in good terms.  At least this with lead to doubts and uncertainties para magdalawang isip ang ama...

As she was about to start her way towards his father, a cold hand pulled her back!  She was about to reprimand the culprit, but who it is made her eyes bulge!!!

"And what are you doing here?" Maine asked incredulously...
