The Wake

Maine came to the venue before eight in the morning.  She drove to her place first to get her essentials and called Paolo to check on the two at RFJ office.  When she arrived, Baste is already there.  All the nuns are present plus all the children.  Tears are everywhere and the children are weeping as well.  She can't help but cry as well but discreetly.  She needs to face this sadness head on, to inspire the other children especially Baste's best friends.

"Ate Maine!" Sam-sam asked her the moment they saw her.
"OK naman, Sam... Malungkot lang... Ikaw?" Maine said, naawa siya sa bats kasi maga ang mata sa kakaiyak!
"Ako din po kasi umalis na si Parekoy e...!" Sam-sam said and he hugged her, same with Tom, who cannot speak because he is crying.
"Shhh, shhhh, mga parekoy! Sabi no Baste, wala saw iiyak kasi ayaw daw niya ng tropang pangit!" Maine trying to pacify the two by joking around.  She wanted these two to be okay.  Coz just like Baste, they two are the most sensitive since they are also battling their own health problems.
"Sinabi niya po yun? Kainis! Naunahan tayo!" Tom suddenly said out of nowhere.
"What do you mean by that, Tom?" Maine asked Tom wondering...
"Dapat kami ang magsasabi nun sa kanya bago siya dalhin sa ospital dun!" Tom explained.
"A, okay! Nag break fast na ba kayo?" Maine said trying to divert their topic.
"Opo, bago po kami lumabas ng ampunan...!" Sabi ni Sam-sam...
"Oh, okay!" Maine said.
"Kayo po?" Asked Tom
"Done na rin! Maupo na kayo din, tutulong muna ako sa mga tao dito!" Maine said to the boys.
"Tutulong na rin po kami, Ate!" Tom and Sam-sam said.

Meanwhile, Paolo wanted to check on the boys first as per his best friends instruction.  He then arrived at the office before ten and was greeted by peace.  So far, as he can see, these two men are to each his own. Nico, as he can hear is discussing something about a car... But the one one is a different story.  Yes, he is quiet but he can tell that he is furious, puzzled and wondering...

"Wait, wondering? Ano kaya ang nangyari dito at parang ang lalim ng iniisip ni Richard!" Paolo said inwardly...

"Bes, good morning! Ang dami mo hinga... Ano nangyari? May problema ba?" Paolo asked as he entered his office.

Richard just scowled at him as he approached, that made Paolo frown...

"Hala siya! Bakit? Aga-aga init ng ulo mo?" Paolo asked, now sitting in one of the chair in front of his table.

"Bakit di mo sinabi ang tungkol kay nerd?" Richard asked, point blank.

"Bakit nagtanong ka ba ng maayos? At isa pa, yung nerd na tinatawag mo ngayon, e inaari mong fiancee mo! Umayos ka nga!" Paolo said.

"Kung ano-ano pa naman ang mga sinabi ko sa iyo tungkol din sa babae sa bar, tapos siya lang palace yung pinag-uusapan natin? Pinahiya mo ako, dude!!!" Richard said, iritable.

"At paano kita ipinahiya??? E wala namang alam si Bes na tinamaan ka Kay Dei!" Paolo said, medyo napalakas ang boses kaya nakita nila na napaangat ng ulo si Nico!

"Sorry to barge in, but why are you talking about Dei?" Nico immediately butt-in, ignoring Richard's scowl and evil glare.

"Sorry. But yeah, we were talking something about Dei.  Don't worry, this man will not harm her..!" Paolo said assuring Nico...

"As if papatalo siya, barilin pa kayo nun e!" Bulong ni Paolo na nagpakunot sa kilay ng dalawang lalaki...

"What did you just said?" Both Richard and Nico said simultaneously...

"O, ano ito may choir recital kayong dalawa at nagpapraktis kayo?" Sabi ni Paolo na natawa sa reaksiyon ng dalawa, sabay talaga!  Nailang naman ang dalawa.
"O, ano? Trabaho na, sayang oras!" Good thing though na nai-divert agad ako ng question na iyon! Muntik na ako dun a!

The whole morning went by without a hitch, and Paolo felt contented with what he saw.  The two gentlemen took everything calmly and they just silently work, to each his own ang peg.  He decided to check on Maine at the funeral.

"Guys, puntahan ko na si Maine, baka may kailangan sila, matulungan ko naman! Nico bebe, may ibibilin ka ba?" Paolo said, as he made his way toward Maine's table. 
"Wala naman, basta make sure na kakain si Menggay ha?" Nico said.
"At yung kotse ko, paki-ingatan kamo!" Dagdag pa niya.
"Okay, Nico bebe! Bes, alis muna ako ha? Behave kayong dalawa!" Paolo said, warning on his voice.  Richard just nod.

The day went by easily.  All agendas came off easily as everything was meticulously planned by Maine.  Every details was followed accordingly.  Every reports was properly turned over as per Maine's instructions.  That's how effective Maine is.  A little over five, both decided to end the day.  Nico, gather her things and nod towards Richard.  Richard nods back.  He went out first and was already at the elevator when he saw Nico coming out from the office.  Phone on the ear.  As proper office decorum, he decided to stop the elevator door for closing in, and gave some space for Nico. Nico said his thanks and rode, ending the call.  Upon reaching the parking lot, Richard saw that Nico's ride is  Dei's Ducati and its parked beside his car.  Yap, his car was delivered at the parking earlier and was informed to him by the guard. 
"Yap! Pupunta ako diyan ngayon! Kumusta kotse ko, Memeng??" Richard heard Nico said over the phone.
"Okay, good! Wait for me, I am bringing your baby over!" Nico said again, while wearing all his gear.  He ended the call after few more seconds, and leave after keeping his phone on his bag.  Richard, heard the loud maneuver, and he was left alone.  After Nico left, sumakay na rin siya! He then decided to go to a club to get laid!
