The Engagement

"Anong ginagawa mo dito? Hindi ba nagwalwal ka??" Maine asked Richard, upon seeing him. He just stared at her, pero inalalayan niya si Maine papasok sa bulwagan. He even placed her hand inside his arm and smiled to everybody as they walked inside. Maine can't help it, as etiquette calls for it, she smile as well. People as if on trance, felt giddy when they saw them.

Richard, can't help but feel proud with the woman beside her. She looked really beautiful in that white ensemble. How in the world did I miss this beauty here? He sighed inwardly...

Maine, on the other hand, can't help but feel annoyed. Mukhang mabubulilyaso naman ang Plano niya! Kainis talaga to, dapat hindi na nagpakita e! Hindi ba niya naisip na para din sa kanya yun? He will be free from this and he can have his gigolo life back!
Ayyy, bakit parang may kurot... Ano yun?!!! But in fairness, he looked angelic with his getup, kaya madaming nabibiktima e!
"At isa ka run!" What the hell? Where did that thought come from? For God's sake he will do you no good, Nicomaine! Wake up!!!" She told herself!

"Good evening everyone!" A voice coming from the stage took her back from her inner monologue!
She saw her father at tr make shift stage and beside him is her mother.

"We are here to formally announce the union of Mendoza and Faulkerson in the near future. Our Nicomaine was set to wed the Faulkerson's first born Richard!" People clap their hands. The "couple" came towards the stage as Richard guide their way towards her parents. They were kinda surprised but managed to contain it, when Richard got her parents hand for the traditional "mano". The Faulkerson patriarch went to the stage as well to shake hands with the Mendozas and Maine, being respectful, did her " mano" as well. Everyone clap for the announcement. After a few more minutes for picture taking, they all went down and mingle with the crowd.

Maine, immediately seeks her sisters in the crown and was surprised when she was called by a little man running towards her. She slightly bent down her knees to catch the little spitfire and lift him. She hugged him while the little kiddo hugged her back and rain kisses all over her face. She can't help but laughed out loud! Unaware that Richard is still on her side.

Richard, was caught off guard with the sound of her laughter. Its like tinkling bells at nakakahawa siya. His smile became toothy as well! Napangiti pa siya ng humalik ang bata sa mukha ni Maine. Parang ang gaan ng pakiramdam niya! Parang ang sarap at ang saya nilang tingnan!

"There you are, our not so little daredevil! How are you na? Been missing you for a while na, when was the last time na umuwi ka dito? Kung hindi ka pa na-engage malamang hindi ka na naman pupunta!" Her sister asked her.
"You know me, I would rather drive my motorbike than mingle with these peeps. Ayoko ng de-numero!" Maine retorted, smiling. Her ate just smile back at her and turn her attention to Richard.
"So you're the lucky guy? Or should I say unlucky?" She asked Richard...
"Lucky guy, and I am Richard, Ma'am at your service!" Richard said, eyes smiling.
"Good answer!" She retorted back!
"By the way, how did you meet?" She asked again.

Maine smirked and waited for Richard's reply.  Richard saw that and was challenge by her smirk...

"She was the executive assistant to my father at RFJ Group of Companies.  She dressed up weird.  In fact I always taunt her as nerd!" Richard said with a smirk. 

Maine smirk again and speak up.  That made him frown...

"Ate, do you that Richard thought that I was his father's other woman?" Maine said it with vindication and a pouty smiling lips!

That made her sister hang for a minute.  Tumikwas ang kilay.  Nagsimula ng pagpawisan ng malamig si Richard.

They were both surprised when they heard her Ate laughed out loud! What the heck??? Sabay pa nilang sabi...

"Of all things that you could joke about her, yung mistress thing pa! Hahahahaha!" Nicole said, still can't help laughing...

This made Maine and Richard puzzled...

"Sis, what's funny? You seem enjoying teasing this newly engage couple! By the way, Coleen here, and you are Richard, right?" Coleen came near them and introduce herself. Nakipagkamay si Richard kahit stiff pa din dahil sa kakatawa ng kapatid na panganay ni Maine...

"Don't mind her, maybe something really triggered her happy hormones! Anyways, nice meeting you rin! Ate, what makes you laughed that hard?" Coleen asked...

"Ummm, Menggay the Mistress??!!" Nicole expain and laughed again.  And after hanging a bit, Coleen also laughed harder. 

Maine could no longer contain her irritation. 

"Why are you both laughing? Care to share?" She sarcastically asked her two sister. Both their two sisters could tell that Maine was already irritated, suddenly stopped.  They both tried hard to contain theirs mirth.  And suddenly blurted out!

"Hindi pa nga nagkakaboyfriend, kabit pa!!!" Ate Nicole said that made Coleen laugh again, Maine turned beet red and Richard smirking!

Maine stomped her feet and left the three of them without a word! 

"Patay! Nagalit na!" Ate Nicole said, but still can't help laughing.
"Hahahaha... Ang cute talaga mapikon ni bunso! At ikaw Richard, totoo ba yung sinabi niya? Ayaw namin ng sinungaling!" Coleen said, eyeing Richard.

"Ummm, yes?" Alanganing sagot ni Richard.

"What????? And here I thought it was joke! A running joke between the two of you!" Ate Nicole can't help but felt uneasy and somehow irritated.  So as Coleen...  Richard found himself alone after a few seconds...

"Wow! There goes the princesses... How will I appease them???" Richard said to himself. 

Paolo was looking for Maine when he bumped with the problematic Richard.

"So, here I thought you will not waste your time going here?" Paolo said sarcastically, with an evil smirk on his face...
