(Olive x Otto)
Ms. O had just finished showing Olive a picture of her new partner, since her previous one, Todd, had become a villain.
Olive didn't know what to make of the boy though, who had one of his eyes squinted shut, and... She shook her head, since she had never seen anyone scrunch their face up in that way.
"Hopefully he solves cases better than he takes pictures." It was as though Ms. O had read her mind.
It wasn't long before Olive had gotten to know her newest companion really well, and not only that, but they had gotten close enough to go on their first, official date.
They hadn't planned to start crushing on each other, it just happened, which shocked Olive, since she had recently just been getting over Todd. He had just been so suave and cute, but Otto was different. He was likable and trustworthy, which were much better traits, and she couldn't lie she also found him adorable.
"Took a deep breath in the mirror
He didn't like it when I talked problems through
But I do
I adjust my suit and put my badge phone on
He said he never got why I didn't cause odd
But I do, I do..."
"Hey, Olive!" Otto was already waving like mad with a gigantic smile on his face. Even though they had to settle with their first date at headquarters, neither one minded. They were just too busy most weeks to find spare time to dine somewhere else.
"Walked in expecting you'd be late
But you got here early, and you stand and wave
I walk to you..."
Olive smiled fondly as Otto pulled her desk chair out for her. He did not have to do that, which he did. It was ironic how Todd enjoyed the game of making things vanish, including the seat she was currently sitting on.
"You pull my chair out and help me in
And you don't know how nice that is
But I do..."
"You won't believe this, Otto, but Coach Robert's head turned into a basketball! Right in the middle of the game! At first the players thought he might be the real basketball." As Olive expressed her concern, Otto couldn't help but start laughing. "What's so funny," she hesitantly asked.
"Nothing." He shrugged. "I mean, it's awful about what happened, but it is pretty funny when you think about it," Otto explained.
"I guess." Olive still wasn't catching on.
"Olive, you're great at telling stories. You're so serious, yet I still find them funny."
She was still staring at him with a blank expression, as her thoughts rang through her head.
"And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny, 'cause he never did
I've been spending the last few months thinking all love ever does is break, and burn, and end
But on a Wednesday in the Bullpen
I watched it begin again"
Olive finally cracked a smile of her own. "It is pretty funny, isn't it? If you liked that one, then you're going to love the one about the time..." She was just finishing up the long tale, before Delivery Debbie was bringing over the pizza.
