(Otto x Octavia)

"Then how do I know about that day you took off work to go to the amusement park...," trailed off Olive. "Sorry." The grown up version of the girl hadn't meant to share Otto's secret. She was just trying to convince everyone that she truly was Olive, only her age of 12 had been switched to 21 by Odd Todd.

"She's Olive," Otto confirmed, after seeing a very unhappy Ms. O.

He couldn't help but reminisce about that day, as they led his partner to the science lab for help.

"Ah... Finally," exclaimed Otto, holding his arms out once he entered the bustling place. He had been dying to go to this amusement park for weeks, but the multitude of odd cases had kept him too busy. It was supposed to only be open for about another month. As soon as it got cold out they closed. He was casually wearing a white t-shirt with some black basketball shorts, along with some white sneakers. He didn't even mind the weather was a blistering 96 degrees Fahrenheit. He was determined to enjoy this day, especially since Olive was covering for him back at the squad.

"Hey, Otto," greeted a familiar, soft voice. He looked over to see a smiling girl with blonde hair, and lovely brown eyes.

"Hey, Octavia," he responded.

"So... What are you doing here," she asked, anxiously bouncing on her heels a little. She was holding her opposite wrist with her arms in front of her.

"What are you doing here?" He turned the question around, afraid of people finding out about him ditching work.

"Oh, Oz and I just finished up an odd case. We had to stop Jelly Bean Joe. He was trying to make a comeback. Anyway... We're done now. Ms. O said we could have the rest of the day off, and Oz had to go home. He had too many corndogs before the tilt-a-whirl," she explained. She wasn't normally the rambling type, but no one could give her fluttering butterflies like Otto.

Otto winced slightly before answering, "Oh."

"Would you want to hang out," she asked, almost squeezing her wrist to death.

He smiled a tiny bit as he replied, "Sure."

She breathed a sigh of relief as a smile spread across her lips, finally relaxing her shoulders. "Gool. I mean good and cool. Bleh." A blush was already painting her cheeks red from her mistake.

"So, what ride do you want to go on first together," Otto wondered, casually putting his hands into his pockets. Both of them were a little more uptight than usual, only it was worse for Octavia. She was naturally a shy/anxious person, and she secretly had the biggest crush on Otto, but he never seemed to notice her, at least the way she wanted him to.

"What about the roller coaster? I heard it goes upside down," she observed.

"Oh okay." Otto slowly nodded his head, trying his best to not let it show that he was nervous. He was the type of person where when he was on big rides, it might make him feel a little funny, yet he ended up loving them at the end. He had experienced mixed emotions on the tubes, since he wasn't fond of his insides literally getting mixed up while he rode them.

They were waiting in line for awhile, both of them silent as they listened to the screams of people on the ride every time it passed. The thundering sound of the machine on the tracks made the ground shake. Otto finally got a proper look at Octavia, and he realized that she was wearing her wavy hair down, and she had changed into a yellow t-shirt and blue jean shorts. Her shoes were white like his own, only hers were a little less worn, despite his being brand new. Just then he jerked his head up when it dawned on him he had been distracted the entire journey up the steps to the carts. Octavia and him clambered into the front car, her loosely holding onto the metal bar in front of them. Soon the ride was lurching forward, and they were climbing a steep hill, and then... Whoosh! They were flying downwards, the wind blowing through their hair such a comfort from the searing heat.

"This is so much fun," Otto couldn't help but yell, bravely holding his arms up. Even though Octavia was scared, she also lifted her arms, Otto looking over at her when their hands lightly bumped into one another. Octavia quickly looked away, while Otto just realized the ride was over. It had seemed so short, yet that moment between them so long.

When they got off the ride, both of them felt a bit paralyzed as their legs shook slightly, yet they weren't sure it was from the rollercoaster.

They strolled along the black pavement in silence, until Otto suddenly called out, "Food!"

He ran over to a restaurant set up inside of a big, white, docked boat nearby. His eyes were already scanning the menu items, and he was almost drooling from the spiral round chips, that could be served with nacho cheese. Octavia had noticed the blue icees, since she wasn't that hungry.

When they went up to order, Otto was already taking some money out of his brown, leather wallet.

"Otto, I can pay for mine," cut in Octavia softly.

"No, it's fine," he insisted. The total came up to quite a bit, since Otto not only ordered what he had been eyeing earlier, but also a hotdog with mustard and ketchup, a piece of pepperoni pizza, and a large chocolate chip cookie.

Octavia hoped he wouldn't be sick if he went on more rides, but he seemed happy as he munched on his pizza.

She slurped on her slurpee, just remaining quiet. They had barely said any words to each other, but she was dying to talk to him! Why couldn't social things like this just come easy to her?

"Uh, Otto," she spoke up, afraid he wouldn't be able to hear her timid voice.

"Yeah," he asked, halfway through his hotdog.

"Never mind," she sighed, resting her hands on her lap.

"Hey, do you want to share this cookie with me," he offered. Her heart fluttered, since Otto wasn't known to share food very often. It was one of his most favorite things after all.

"Sure." She could sense a small smile appearing on her face, as he broke the dessert.

"Oh... Why don't you take the bigger piece? You haven't had anything to eat yet," he pointed out.

"You don't have to, Otto," she told him.

"I don't mind," he claimed, his chocolatey brown eyes locking with hers.

"Okay." She nodded her head, as she grasped the treat with melted chocolate. As she ate it, she couldn't help but think it was the best cookie in the entire world. She was puzzled though when she caught Otto holding back a laugh. "What?"

"You have a little bit of chocolate on your face," he said, but she couldn't help but simply smile in return.

"You do too."

They both laughed, as they reached over to carefully wipe off the food for each other with napkins.

When their eyes locked that time, neither one looked away.

"Otto...," she trailed off. "You're really cute." Oh great, now he was going to think she was an idiot. Why did she say...

"I knew I liked you," he reacted, rendering her speechless.

Just then they finally closed the gap between them in a soft kiss. As they both smiled against each other's lips, Octavia realized she hadn't messed things up after all. Everything was perfect.
