chapter 142 - big and full of love...

*jessie*

danny is pushing me towards the maternity unit, im not sure where she is. then holly's bright red hair catches my eye.

jess: HOLLY!!!

she turns around.

jess: news?

holly: anytime now... and also if she does have a collapsed lung she will be taken straight to surgery...

jess: oh god! poor clair!

skyler comes out. me and holly look at her waiting for news.

skyler: nothing yet... but i must go back to my ward otherwise im gunna be in big trouble! *smile*

jess: oh right yeah *smile* oh skyler i dont suppose there is anywhere, where evie and orla could go for a bit?

skyler: oh yeah, sure... ill take them to the staff room...

she smiled and i thanked her. evie and orla followed. danny got them some colouring books on the way so they will be fine. we wait outside for ages, hours. till one of those incubator things gets rushed out and away. shit.

soon we can go into the room, clair has her head in the pillow crying and dara is sat unagainst the wall looking shocked.

jess: clair, babe?

she covers her face more.

holly: clair, babe she will be fine... dont worry...

clair: no, she wasnt breathing and they took her!

she cried hard, me and holly looked at eachother unknowing of what to say...

*danny*

jess and holly sat trying ti calm clair down. we had been here about 6 hours now. me and dara got up to get us all some coffee.

danny: congrats dara, i never thought id see the day...

dara: to be honest neither did i, like you and ian are made to be dads, are made to settle down. just like da was. but im not...-

danny: oi ive been nice, you better sick by her!

dara: i know i know but i dont know what to do!

danny: you learn as they do. as they grow up and learn you do too. trust me there is know manual!

dara: but there is so much to remember! nappie sizes, warm temprature and not to drop them!

i laugh

danny: well id be very worried if you thought you should drop them! but thats ok, clair will help and im sure your gunna struggle to keep holly and jess away!

he smiled

dara: thank you danny! i know ive been a dick but im trying!

danny: mm

i wrap and arm round him and we carry the coffees back. jess comes and sits on my lap. glen has arrived and holly sits with him. no one knows what to say.

jess: im just going to check on orla... skyler said she would keep an eye on them but just going to go see them...

danny: ill come...

she got up and decided she wanted to walk. we walked slowly back to where jess has chemo, we found skyler and she took her too see orla and evie.

jess: you girls ok?

evie: yep, we have been drawing!

orla: skyler got us cookies!

jess: wow! lucky!

she went and sat with them. we stayed for a bit.

danny: babe do you want to stay here with clair and ill take these home cause they are going to get tired soon!

jess:um yeah, that would be wonderful! thank you!

Danny: I love you!

Jess: I love you more!

Danny: impossible!

I bent down and kissed her. The girls put their stuff back in their bags and said goodbye to skyler. I piggy back, back to Clair's room. I said goodbye to them all and goodbye to Jess once more and then left.

We raced eachother to the car and I strapped them both in. 'Domino' came on and they both sang along.

Once we got back I made them some tea and it was already 8.30pm! wow! I put Orla to bed after reading her a story.

I walked down stairs and Evie was sat watching TV, I sat on the sofa and she soon came and cuddled next to me. She is sweet!

Evie: uncle dan?

Danny: yes Evie?

Evie: will auntie Jessica be ok?

oh, i dont know what to say to her... jess always says she wants to be honest with them so i guess the truth? well bend it a bit...

danny: of course! she is a cornish, she will fight and fight until she wins!

evie: i dont want her to die...

danny: awh evie... auntie jessica is on some very powerful arse kicking medicine now and is doing really well! she has shocked all the doctors! but evie you mustn't worry about her she is strong than we all think!

evie: thank you uncle dan!

danny: for what hun?

evie: making me feel better... i love you uncle dan!

danny: awh, thats my job evie! i love you too! right, how about hot chocolate and a film?

evie: yeah yeah yeah!

danny: ok, well quietly go get you pjs on and ill make you a hot chocolate ok?

she nodded and ran off. i smile and call jess while i make a hot chocolate. she didnt answer, strange. probably busy choosing names with clair. i take too hot chocolates through to the lounge where evie was in her pjs under a cover, she patted a space next to her. i smile and sit next to her. she drinks her hot chocolate and snuggles up to me.

i click play on the film she has chosen- rio 2. i smile and text jess to call me when she was free. evie soon feel asleep. i picked her up and tucked her into bed in the spare bed. she was staying tonight cause hannah and jacob were going out and orla wanted to see her.

soon jessie's voice fills the house, it was my phone- it was silver linings, i love that song. i run and get it before it wakes them both up. i dont care if my ring tone may sound girly imma show my wifes voice off! plus only jess's ringtone is that...

*call*

danny: hey babe

jess: hey...

danny: news?

jess: girl, 6lb exsactly so tiny... she came out of surgery about 1 hour ago and she is gunna make it, she is a fighter! yah, got to stay in hospital for a few days and then regular check ups but yeah good news!

i could hear her smile

danny: awh thats great! kids are alseep, fed and watered. ok, so name?!

jess: haha good good, ill be home soon... ok ready... Eleanor o'donoghue...

danny: awh thats sweet... god o'donoghue name is being stretched now! haha so she decided to go with o'donoghue not thomas then...

jess: yeah, she said he is her dad so... you know...

danny:yeah... come home soon yeah

jess: yeah leaving soon, i love you...

danny: love you too!

*end of call*

eleanor o'donoghue, got a nice ring.. im a proud uncle! and i could hear from the smile on jess's voice she is a proud auntie, haha! i love my family, big and full of love!
