pinel slumped down at the bench stairs, she watched steven and the other gems talk about how to the blue and red gem to fuse and stuff.

she looked up at the blue skies with very few fluffy white clouds, she sat up from the ground and started walking to some place. the pink gem looked back at steven to see him fixated on thinking.

'i'll be back, they wouldn't even notice i left!' spinel grinned and started running out of the little homeschool and heading to the city broadwalk.

as she walked through the pavement with stores on her left and the sand on the right, humming to herself. some humans are looking at the cheerful gem despite the predicament the world is in.

gotta enjoy the last hours of the world, am i right....?

spinel stopped, she's bored again. the store doesn't want her to come in, she wonders why?
she instead headed to the shore since that's only place she's allowed to go to.

with the sand crunching below her squeaky shoes, she noticed some boats parked at the docks. a grin came up to her face, she can probably drive it!

running towards the docks, she got to the wooden platform but abruptly stopped as she heard cries. spinel looked around the boats and at the edge of the docks, then she heard it again.

she looked inside the second boat to see nothing but the cries are in there. without any hesitations, she jumped inside the deck of the boat and slowly walked around to find the source of the noise.

spinel stopped at the door, it's the csptain's quarters. she gripped the handle and slowly twisted it open, "hello? is anyone there? are ya hurt somehow?" she called out to the empty quarters.

spinel huffed as she thinks it's just her mind playing games, she stepped inside the quarters and stood in front of the metal steering wheel.

she started turning and twisting it as if she's driving the boat while making boat noises. without thinking, spinel bent kneeled to see a child huddled up at the corner just below the wheel.

if spinel didn't look under it, she wouldn't have noticed the child. "hello." she said, the child didn't answer and just squeezed herself more into the corner.

spinel stopped kneeling and sat down at the dirty ground, "heya kiddo, what are you doing here all alone?" the gem tilted her head, the child hugged her legs tightly and didn't answer.

"i'm spinel, if you're curious. what's yours??" spinel asked, curious about this kid, she's pretty cute to be honest. "y... y/n.." you muttered, as spinel heard your name, a big smile came to her face.
