" so? what's it gonna be princess? "

being a princess is all handy dandy though utterly boring. roaming around the concrete hallways while greeting the maids and staff members as they pass by.

sighing, you stopped at a window overlooking the town. you rested your arm on the edge and watched as the merchant sells his products.

"hey."

you jumped as someone is sticking to the walls of the palace, you looked at them then you noticed they're not human..

"a demon?" the demon made a finger gun and jumped inside, she looked eyed you up and down making you slowly back away. "hey, why so skittish love?" she asked as she walked closer to you.

"why are you here...? demons usually come to mortal land when they're summoned, who summoned you?" the demon giggled and sighed.

"my dearest, you're the one who summoned me. you want to get out of this, do you?" the demon walked to your side and started circling you.

"you don't want this feeble lifestyle of yours anymore, you want to be free, don't you?" you watched as the demon circled you, her hands tied behind her back with a smug look on her face.

"my name's spinel if you're wondering." spinel said then she stopped in front of you. "what do you say?" she held out her hand to you, you looked down at her claws sticking out then at her sharp canines.

"i... need time to think." you said before turning away and run. spinel watched as you run away, she chuckled and disappeared to thin air.

looking back, you no longer see the demon to your relief. you stopped as your room is getting nearer but you saw your father standing in front of your door.

sighing "hello father." you said, your father glared down at you. "i have been looking everywhere for you, where have you been." you huffed.

"in the hallways and i never left the castle like you always say over a million times." you crossed your arms and looked at your father with empty eyes, you just wanna go to your room and don't have to face your father.

ever since your mother died, your father has never been the same. always overbearing, overprotective, it's just exhausting.

"i have to rest now." you said as you gripped the door handle, your father moved aside. he raised his hand in attempt to have a small talk but you immediately closed the door and got into bed.

"oh, that's rough buddy." you lifted your head to see the demon again sitting at the edge of your bed, your frowned and covered your face with the pillow.

closing your eyes, trying to get to some shut eye, you heard muffled hissing. before you knew it, the hissing became louder and you screamed.

you threw the pillow at the snake then fell down to the ground, the demon laughed and slapped her knee. "oh that was too good!!"

you growled and stood up, "you're just here to mess with me aren't you?!" spinel calmed herself down and sighed, she wiped a nonexistent tear and looked at you.

"well, you don't have to endure that anymore if you accept my offer." spinel slowly extended her hand to you, looking down at the demon's hand again.

"don't worry, i washed my hand. you sin't gon get the plague princess." spinel snickered, you sighed and closed your eyes. without hesitation anymore, you grabbed the demon's hand shook it.

spinel's face started to contort in horror, her teeth getting sharper, her skin getting dark and her shadows started to consume you. you tried to scream but nothing came out of your mouth.

"don't worry, i'll take you to a safe place."

jolting awake, you looked around to only see darkness around you. you tried to move but your being held down by some shadow tentacles, it's drip continued to tightened as you struggle.

"almost thought you'd never wake up." a familiar voice said, spinel walked towards you with her usual smug look, you looked at her "where am i? how long have i been here?"

"i don't know, probably weeks." spinel shrugged, "no, i have to go back! my father will be worried!" the demon looked at you then wheezed.

"i don't think he is sweetheart!" spinel said, she touched the dark surface and a vision started to play below you. your father is sitting at the dinner table, talking to someone with a big smile on his face.

"dad! dad!!" you called out.

"he can't hear you." spinel slowly walked towards behind you and watched your reaction. "wanna see who he's talking to?" spinel waved her hand to move the vision to the other person on the table and to your shock.

it's you.

"h- how?"

"shadows, darling! i thought you'd already figure that out." spinel exclaimed, then a few shadow tentacles caressed your cheek but you flicked them away and glared at the demon with teary eyes.

"oh, why are you crying love?" spinel kneeled down and cupped your cheeks. "please, take me home." the demon looked at you with empty eyes, she shook her head while giggling.

"now why do you wanna do that? if i bring you back to the mortal world, you have no father to return to." your eyes widened and a tear escaped.

"what..?"

spinel grinned "that's right, your soul and his soul is connected since you know you're his child and stuff. if you come back up there, he'll be exiled to the depths of hell. all thanks to you."

your head hung low, you have to stay here for the rest of your life with your father living with a shadow you.

how did this all go south so fast..

"so? what's it gonna be princess?" spinel said as she stood up to look down at your pathetic self.

"i'll... stay." you said with no life in your voice.
