scanning through various files presented in front of you, you looked up to the person waiting behind your desk then you finally found one.

as you handed it to them, they opened the folder and quickly skimmed through the papers before shutting it close and exit the room.

you sighed deeply, removed your glasses off and tossed it into the desk as you lean back against your chair.
you thought being in a mafia would be cool but you ended up being the secretary in this place.

it's not that bad, i guess? you go in the field sometimes but most of the time, you're here, sitting behind a desk with papers stacked left and right.

you perked up as you heard a knock "come in." you said as you grabbed your glasses again and started fiddling with it as the person enters your office.

as you looked up, your eyes widened as you realise it's the boss you came in. you immediately stood up and saluted at her "i'm sorry boss, i didn't think you'd come here." you said.

spinel shook her hand, giving you at ease "it's fine, i usually don't come down here so it's understandable."
"if you don't mind me asking, why are you here exactly?"

she hummed as she looked around the office, "come sit down with me." she said as she pointed at the couch. spinel walked over to it and sat down, like she said, you don't know what to do but to follow your boss.

you sat down next to her with you sitting next to the arm rest, spinel draped her arm onto the couch and sighed "it was mistake assigning you here." she said all of the sudden.

"pardon?"

"you want to be out in the field right? instead of wasting away in this office." she said, "that's why i'm here to promote you to be my right hand."

your eyes widened, "are you serious?" you said in disbelief, spinel chuckled, she dropped her hand and turned her body fully to face you.

"you don't wanna let this offer slip by right?"
you nodded furiously and unconsciously grabbed spinel's hand "thank you thank you so much!" you said.

spinel blushes as you held her hand, it's not until she cleared her throat that you finally notice that you're holding. you immediately dropped her hand and backed up as you can feel that promotion slipping farther.

spinel looked down at her hands, she shook her head and she chuckled "it's nothing, you can leave this office now since i'll assign someone else to assort the files." she stood up and fixed her suit, she headed towards the door and left without saying a word.

you sat there for a while, still can't get over that you actually held the boss' hand, you could slap yourself for that but hey at least you got the promotion.
