this is part 2 of 'slithered'

❇ ❇ ❇ ❇ ❇

" she's waking up! "

groaning, you slowly fluttered your eyes opened and looked up at the dark wooden ceiling. you sat up with a half lid eyes, still tired, as your eyes adjusted.

you screamed and backed uo from the naga and the person beside her, you backed up to the wall which made the things on their shelves fall down.

a jar dropped to your head, you hissed and held the top of your head tightly as a wave of pain slowly flush in. spinel and the witch looked at each other with worry and confusion.

"are you okay?" the witch asked as she made her way to you and helped you stand up. as you got to your feet, it wobbled a little before you controlled it.

"what happened to me..?" you asked as you leaned against the wall while the witch held your hand. "well, a certain someone bit you and you almost died from the venom if she didn't come here in time." then the witch snapped spinel a glare which made the naga lower and hugg herself in embarrassed.

you looked at the snake then down at your arm that is wrapped in bandages. "it's fine, i guess. it's just instincts." you said, the witch nodded and walked towards spinel.

she snapped her fingers making a broom swiftly fly to her hand then the witch wacked it to spinel's head. "hey!!" she exclaimed and backed up from the witch "you should be thankful that this girl forgave you." spinel rubbed her head and lowly hissed.

"so, i'm guessing you wanna go home?" she said as she faced you, for a minute, you didn't think about going back to camp. you chuckled then cleared your throat.

"i... think i'll stay for a bit." spinel rose a brow, she looked at garnet (the witch). she grinned and fixed her glasses, she turned around and started heading out of her hut.

"do whatever you like, it's non of my business anymore." she said as she waved her hand in the air and left the hut, leaving the two of you alone.

the silence is deafening, the only thing that can be heard between the two of you are crickets. you pursed your lips tightly, not gonna lie, you're still afraid of the naga because one wrong move she's swallow you whole.

as your legs are still numb, your legs gave up. spinel's head perked up and she swiftly slithered to catch you, your eyes widened as she let you rest on her lap.

spinel curled up her tail to make it look like a nest and looked to the other side, "i'm.. spinel, by the way." she whispered, you looked up at the naga's facial features.

it seems like it's night, the moonlight seeped inside the hut and conveniently  directly hitting spinel letting her facial scales, that you didn't even notice, shine.

"uh.. are you okay?" you snapped yourself out of the daze and nodded, you rubbed your fingers and finally said your name "i'm y/n."

spinel softly smiled, she lifted her hand off the floor and placed it in front of you. "i really am sorry for biting you and... almost killing you. friends?" you looked at her hands, it looks smooth and her nails are long.

you lifted your hand and lightly shook it, "friends." you said as you smiled at the naga. grinning, spinel looked up the window and into the sky.

"tomorrow, i'll show you around. without the other creatures killing you though!" spinel reassured, you giggled and nodded. "that'd be nice. are naga's usually nice? i never met one until you."

spinel hissed and rubbed the back of her neck, "not really.." she said in a pitchy voice. "okay, there's bad. i don't want them to see you coz it'll end pretty bad." the end of the snake's tail placed itself on top of your lap and rattled softly.

you don't know if this is intentional but you don't mind. you nodded in understandment "but i can trust you right?" spinel looked into your hues, it's like looking at the sun, she chuckled and whiffed her hair dramatically.

"of course! i, in fact, the most trusted creature of this forest." she said with such modesty. "are you sure about that?" garnet said from outside. spinel's confident facade cracked, she snapped her head towards the open door.

"how long have you been listening?" she asked and her voice slightly cracked that made you cackle but you tried to hold it in. spinel gave you a deadpan look and that made you lose it.

"long enough to see the two of you bond." garnet whispered before getting inside the hut with a basket. "alright, help me make this soup. spinel go fetch some water, y/n would you please help me cut these?" garnet said, she placed down the vegatables down the cutting board.

"how am i gonna get water? with my hands?" spinel said then her head suddenly got hit by a bucket. you laughed, spinel rubbed the side of her head "the hell was that for woman?!"

"go now and the two of you do that later this soup isn't going to make itself."
both of your faces blew up and the two of you looked to the other side, spinel groaned and softly placed you in front of the cutting board facing garnet then grabbed the bucket.

"i'll be back." you looked over your shoulder and gave the naga a wave "come back safe." spinel's mouth went a agape for a second before grinning "of course dolly!" she winked at you before slithering off the hut and dropped down the ground.

"dolly?" you mumbled as you turned to face the cutting board, you saw garnet eyeing you with a smirk. "you like the naga don't you." your eyes widened and shook your head.

"no i don't..." garnet chuckled, "whatever you say, go on. cut these potatoes." she said and gave you a knife to work with.
