"yes??" you quickly headed to your bedridden gem girlfriend, "can i have a kiss?" she grinned. you rose a brow at her and crossed your arms.

"not on the lips, what if i contracted this 'gem sickness' you have. also, i thought gems don't get sick?" you said, spinel pursed her lips and lightly gripped the sheet covering her.

"well... it's a rare sickness from space, humans like you won't contract it since you've never been to space.." spinel said as she tried to make it sound convincing.

you took a deep breath and let out a sigh "fine." you bent down and lightly placed a kiss on her cheek. spinel smiled "thanks baby." you smiled and lightly patted her head.

"i'll bring you some soup, okay? be right back." you said before leaving the room, as you closed the door. she grabbed a pillow under her head and squealed in it.

she couldn't believe her plan worked, you've been in and out of the house all week and have been returning back home all tired in midnight.
she wants to feel you again, your warmth, something you didn't even bother to go up the bedroom and sleep in the couch.

it's been annoying spinel.

now that she's 'sick' you wouldn't have to leave for work since you have to take care of her.
she's been doing this for three days now and it has been a great three days, though she couldn't cuddle with you but at least you're inside the house with her.

spinel's head perked up as she heard a noise outside, she stood up from the bed and looked outside the window.
she saw some gems banging some trash cans as if trying to make a melody out of it.

"hey, you goons get outta here. ya makin' my head hurt!" spinel shouted which caught the gems' attention then ran away. spinel huffed and grinned to herself.

"spinel?"
the gem's eyes widened, she slowly turned her head over her shoulder to see you holding a bowl of piping hot soup in your hands.

spinel fully turned her body around, she held up her hands "y/n, i can explain." but you didn't let her. you dropped the soup, letting the bowl break then you ran out of the house.

"y/n!!" spinel called out, she opened the window and jumped out of it. she barely manage to land on her feet, she saw you running up ahead.

the gem ran after you, she quickly made her legs into springs and jumped high enough then landed just meters away from you.

"y/n, stop! i need to talk to you!" spinel called out, all of the sudden. rain started pouring down, spinel growled, she wiped the rain out of her face then whipped her arm to grab your waist.

you groaned and tried to get away from her grasp but spinel tightened it. as you're in her arms, you quickly pushed her away and glared at her.

"y/n... i'm sorry." she said.

"sorry? sorry isn't gonna cut it! goddamn spinel, why would you fake an illness?!" you burst out, spinel frowned then she lets it all out.

"because you've been away for days y/n! you've been stressin' about work, workin' your ass off of it and you couldn't even be in bed with me! at least when you come home, lie with me! it's like... you do overtime because you don't want me anymore.."

spinel bit her lip as she tries to hold a sob, thanks to the rain, she doesn't know if tears are streaming down her face or the rain.

you immediately embraced her, you buried your face onto her chest. spinel slowly unwrapped her arm around you waist, she didn't return the hug just yet.

"i'm sorry, me doing overtime doesn't mean i don't love you anymore and i'm sorry if i made you feel that way.." you softly said.

spinel looked up to the darkened sky, rain hits her lips that made her lightly hiss. she hugged you back, finally, the two of you stayed that way for a while.

then you slightly pulled away, eyeing spinel's lips, spinel knew where this is going. she slowly leaned closer to you, you started closing the space as well.

as your lips are just inches away, you let out a squeeze.

you sniffed and rubbed your nose.

"oh no..."

"you good baby?" spinel asked as she held up a spoonful of soup to you, you opened your mouth and gulped down the soup.

"yes, thanks for staying with me spinel." the gem smiled softly, "of course! can't leave my dolly all alone!" she said as she softly pinched your cheeks and kissed it.

"it's kinda your fault that i'm sick."

spinel crossed her arms "it's the weatherman's fault, he said there ain't gonna be no rain last night."
