"ah— sorry." you bowed in embarrassment for bumping into someone so early in the morning. "nah nah, it's fine." the person said as they stood up, you looked at the person— uh, gem rather.

"it's kinda my fault too." she said as she wore a toothy grin on whilst rubbing the back of her neck. you reluctantly nodded your head, then offered your hand to the new gem.

the gem looked rather confused on what you're trying to do here, "oh! this is a handshake. i'm y/n." you said as you offered your hand again.

the gem hesitantly grabbed your hand and shook it lightly, you chuckled slightly and pulled away. the gem looked rather disappointed as you pulled your hand away from her's.

"i'm spinel." the gem said as she tried to regain her color, you said as you heard the gem's name. "nice to meet you spinel," you looked down at your watch to see that you're late.

"oh, i gotta go." you said with dismay in your tone, the gem seemed to understand. spinel nodded her head "don't worry, see you later yeah?" spinel said with hopes of her seeing you again or later.

you nodded, "of course!" then you ran off to the destination you're originally heading. while watching your figure ever so slightly go blurry the farther you go, spinel hummed to herself in bliss as she spun around like a ballerina.

"steven, i told you i saw cookie cats on the shelves!" you said ecstatically to the gem hybrid while walking in the beach heading to steven's house, "pfft— they stopped making it long time ago." steven scoffed.

you groaned "no. it's in a store near the diner where you, garnet and your dad ate." you said, that must've triggered a memory. "yeah, man. that was a long time ago huh." steven said with a lower tone that before.

"hey, is something bothering you?" you asked, feeling worried about your friend. steven shook his head "no, it's just me remembering my. . . childhood."

you sighed, the two of you arrived at steven's house and were met with a familiar voice.

"y/n!!" you looked up to where the door is and saw spinel being all jumpy and excited. you smiled to finally see her after you two bumped, steven seemed confused on how the gem knows you.

"how did she know you?" the boy asked, "i accidentally bumped into her the other day." you explained the summary, then all of the sudden. spinel jumped down and landed onto you with her arms wrapping around you like a koala.

this made you fall to the sand, you giggled at her childish nature, you find it cute. very. steven looked worried and offered to help you up.
