synopsis:
it's a zombie apocalypse.

walking through the grey hallways, cracks visible, windows all boarded up with wooden planks. holding in your hand, a silver tray with food.

stopping at the last door of the hallway, you fished the keys out of your pocket and inserted the silver key on the keyhole.

as the lock clicked, pushing the creaky door open. you felt the wall for the light switch, as you touched it, you flicked it revealing the room that is in the same condition of the hallways.

kicking the door closed behind you, you looked in front of you to see her chained up with her head hung low. slowly walking towards her, you kneeled down and settled the tray down in front of you.

"spinel, hey wake up. it's breakfast." then her head perked up at your voice, her skin loss it's color and became sickly green with veins slowly exposing themselves. her eyes bloodshot and her mouth foamed like a wild animal.

you sat down at the cold ground and scooped up a spoonful of the food you prepared, spinel struggled to get out of her restraints and eat you.

the first day of you have to having to chain her up is absolute heart wrenching, they said you should put spinel out of her mercy.
you can't, you tried countless nights and days to try and shoot her, you can't.

you still cling on the thin hope of she might recognise you.
lifting the spoonful "ahhh." you said, telling spinel to open her mouth. she growled and tried to bite your hand off but you dodged her teeth and ended up shoving the spoon inside her mouth.

the two of you did a little tug of war as spinel bit the spoon "gimme." you said and stumbled a little as you got back the now crooked spoon.

you grumbled and threw the spoon to the side, "are we gonna eat this now?" you said as you crossed your arms. spinel screamed and pulled onto the chains, your eyes widened as you heard a cracking and tearing sound.

you looked to the side to see her arm getting torn off the chain, "spinel! no please stop!!" you tried to stop her but it's too late as it completely broke off.

you backed up as spinel attempted to grab you, she pulled onto the last chain around her arm. you slowly pulled out the gun and placed your finger to the trigger, trembling, you aimed the gun at her.

"please stop.." you begged, but she only grunted and growled in response and kept pulling on the chain. you looked to the side, your hand trembling as you applied pressure to the trigger.

"i'm sorry." you whispered as tears started to well up, "it's....okay." you gasped, you looked at spinel who's still struggling to get out.

then as the chain snapped leaving her severed arm with it, she lunged at you then you pressed the trigger.

you slowly opened your eyes as you heard a thud, dropping the gun, you kneeled down and softly touched spinel's now dead body.

you turned her over, dark blood started flowing out of her gunshot wound. you placed her onto your lap and caressed her cheeks softly.

"why does it have to be you.." you bit your lip as you tried not to let the tears flow down. you held spinel's head close to your chest, letting her hear your heartbeat, "why.."
