"You called her Topanga?" Shawn asked in disbelief.
Cory had just finished telling Shawn about his slip-up on his date last night. He'd called his date 'Topanga' right after they kissed.
"Now, Shawn it's so obvious what's going on here,' Cory sighed deeply.
"Yeah, you're bad with names," Shawn laughed, "Do what I do, write on the palm of your hand..." He trailed off as he glanced down at his palm, "Cory."
"C'mon, Shawn," Cory rolled his eyes, "Hasn't this ever happened to you?"
Shawn paused before he nodded slowly with a frown. "Yeah. This morning with Jenny Gildenhorn. I called her Elena."
"So you know what I'm talking about!" Cory smiled in relief, "See, the problem is no matter how many girls we go out with, we still end up thinking about Topanga and Elena."
Shawn's brows furrowed. "So why'd you break up with her in the first place?"
Shawn couldn't wrap his head around it. If he got the chance to have the girl of his dreams (read: Elena) be his girlfriend then he would never let her go. Especially not without a fight. He'd do everything to try and fix whatever was wrong before he'd let her walk out of his life.
"I don't know," Cory huffed as he ran a hand across his face sadly, "I mean, I made a mistake, I thought we could be friends like you and I are. But, you know, when I see Topanga I wanna hug her, hold her, kiss her when I see you I have no interest in any of those things."
"Hey, I feel all of that for Elena," Shawn realized slowly.
"Well, then you should do something about it!" Cory nudged him.
Shawn paused before he slowly began to nod. "Yeah, yeah, you're right. I should do something about it. Maybe there's a chance for..."
"Say it," Cory begged with an excited grin, "You know you want to! Oh, please, please, please say it!"
Shawn sighed as he smiled. "Maybe there's still a chance for Shalena."
"I love it!" Cory clapped his hands, "Now, back to my all-consuming love for Topanga."
"Well, how do you think she feels about you?" Shawn asked, his eyes moving to stare dreamily at Elena as she walked into the classroom.
"I will ask," Cory decided as he smiled at Topanga, "Hey, Topanga."
She smiled brightly as she walked to her seat. "Hi, Cory."
"She wants me back," Cory informed Shawn decidedly.
