This Isn't What I Had In Mind

When Tommy came out of the shower, he found Paul standing in the doorway. " Did I take too long?" he asked.

"No, not at all. I just wanted to check on you. "

Paul had on a dark gray three piece suit with a black shirt and gray/white striped tie. "If you don't mind, would you let me pick out your suit?"

"Sure, I guess."

Sitting on the bed, Tommy admired Paul's profile as he looked through the closet. "You only have one?"

"Yes."

Tommy was handed the black suit along with a white shirt and blue/black tie. "Here you are."

"I'll be back in a few minutes."

Finally Tommy came out with his suit on and his hair in a low ponytail. "Ready?"

"Yes. By the way, you look very nice."

At the restaurant Paul was told that his reservations had been cancelled at the last minute. "What? Why?"

"A large party needed the restaurant. I'm sorry Mr. Stanley."

"Paul, it's fine. We can find another place." whispered Tommy. "I'm fine with finding something else."

Paul  reluctantly left to keep from creating a scene. "What do you have in mind?"

Tommy just gave him a quick kiss as he ran into the grocery store next door. "Wait here."

Sighing, Paul sat in the car and waited. He finally saw Tommy coming back with his arms full of groceries. He took the bags as Tommy slid into the passenger seat.

"If you let me drive, I'll make it worth your time." hinted Tommy, holding out his hand.

They switched sides quickly as Paul kept sneaking glances at Tommy. "Well, this is a side I've never seen before."

Tommy just smiled at him and kept driving. "I have brainstorms once in awhile. I'm not the total airhead you three seem to think I am."

Finally Tommy pulled into a hidden drive in the woods. "Come on."

Paul looked at his boyfriend as he grabbed the sacks from the backseat. "Where in the world are we going?"

"Just follow me....unless you don't want the chocolate cake I brought." laughed Tommy.

That got Paul moving. "Well, this isn't what I had in mind when I said I was taking you out to dinner."

"We could have waited three hours." came the reply.

"No."

Finally Tommy stopped and set down his armload. He had led Paul to a clearing overlooking a lake. "Surprise."

"Wow, it's beautiful!"

Without saying anything else, Tommy spread out the impromptu dinner.
