Why Are You So Against This?

Waiting on Tommy to wake up, Paul gave Gene a call. "Hey, could I come over for a few?" "I have some things to talk to you about."

"Sure, come on. Eric's out for awhile." 

Paul left a note for Tommy telling him where he was going to be. He decided to walk over instead of driving. When he got to Gene's the door was already open. "Were you watching me?" laughed Paul. 

"No, I was out getting the mail and I saw you coming around the corner."

After taking a sip of his water he was handed, Paul told Gene about the vacation plans.

"No. It's not a good idea." "You two will go overseas but only one of you will come back."

Paul's eyes widened ."I'M NOT GONNA MURDER HIM! OR LEAVE HIM!"

"Calm down, I didn't mean you. We all know Tommy's moodier than you are. If you even give him ANY reason to get upset or not trust you, he'll leave you there and probably come back to Jaime."

"Jaime's getting married. Why would Tom go back to him?"

Rolling his eyes, Gene replied ,"Because he was Tom's first love. That's why."

"You're not with your first love and neither am I. Why would Tommy go back to his?"

"We aren't cut from the same cloth. We enjoyed playing around. Tommy is faithful to a fault. It took a lot for him to break it off with Goldilocks. I'm not sure his heart and his head are in sync with each other."

"So you're saying he's using me to rebound?"

NO! I'm saying I don't truly know if he's ready for another full time relationship yet." "Get your boxers out of a twist and calm down." "Good lord drama queen."

Paul managed to finish his water and the conversation without getting uptight again. "Well, I'll talk to him over dinner. He wants to go to Ireland, which is fine with me, but he's against us going to Spain."

"OOOH, he didn't find out what happened over there, right?"

"That I was , UH, practicing my vocab skills and....""NO!"

"I'll keep quiet." snorted Gene.

"You better."

After a few more minutes, Paul left and headed back towards his house. He wanted to see if Tommy was awake yet.

Walking inside, he found it still silent. "Tom?" he called softly.

Paul opened the bedroom door and found his boyfriend sitting up in bed reading. "Hey, sweetheart, did you just wake up?"

"No, I saw your note. Did you and Gene have a good conversation?" "Since I seemed to be excluded, I decided it best to just stay here. BY MYSELF!"

"Tom, baby, you were asleep and I was only gone for an hour." 

"It took you four hours to get back from the travel agency too. We're only thirty minutes away!"

"I went shopping for you afterwards. I thought I could cheer you up but I guess I was wrong."

Getting up to leave, Paul heard the book hit the wall which made him turn around. Tommy's eyes were full of tears which he was trying to hold back. "You're only saying that because you think I won't catch on. You're cheating on me! Jaime always used that excuse but he never brought me anything!!!"

"Sweetheart, look at me. I really did get you something. I was going  to give it to you at dinner tonight. I want us to get dressed up and go somewhere nice. Will you do that for me?"

Sniffling and wiping his eyes, Tommy shook his head yes and got out of bed. He headed to the bathroom to shower and get ready. Paul kissed his cheek and went to his own room.
