"Tommy, as much as I know you don't want to, we have to head to soundcheck. It starts in thirty minutes."
"I'll be there. Just wait on me, please. I need someone to stay."
"Tell you what, eat and then shower, okay? If the lead singer isn't there, they have to wait on me."
Tommy ate a few bites before stepping into the shower. His head was spinning and he was nauseous but he bit his lip and finished. After throwing on the same clothes he had just taken off, he followed Paul down the hall. "Elevator or stairs? "
"Stairs. It's harder to make out on stairs....Gene. "
"What? " came Gene's reply. "You and Pete used to."
"See you two at soundcheck."
"AH! Shit!" yelled Eric as he fell trying to wrap himself around Gene.
"My God." laughed Paul.
In the basement, the two guitarists tuned their instruments and waited on the bassist and drummer. "Paul, is it okay if we go out to dinner so I can talk to you later?" asked Tommy quietly.
"Sure, baby boy. We may do lunch if those two don't hurry up."
The door opened as Gene and Eric fell through it wrapped around each other. "Ouch!" cried Gene as he landed on his ass with Eric on top.
"Get off you blonde octopus!" mumbled Gene.
"That's what I'm trying to do--in more ways than one." shot back Eric as he got up.
Paul and Tommy gave the two five more minutes before starting the first song.
Tommy barely stayed focused--finally giving up and laying down his guitar. "I just can't."
Gene started to say something until his bass string popped and flew across the room. It narrowly missed Paul. "What the hell?!"
"Oops."
"Let's just leave before the singer gets murdered."
After putting up their instruments, the four left.
