Knowing his lover needed a change of scenery, Paul had gotten permission to take Tommy down to the cafeteria. "What would you like to eat?"
Tommy indicated he wanted grilled cheese and fries with a coffee. Paul knew he always ate soup with it. "I'll be back."
Tommy nodded and leaned against the wall. He was scared he'd be left by himself when the tour started. He was scared to ask Paul if he could have one of his ex band mated stay at the house during Paul's absence.
When Paul came back with two mugs of coffee, Tommy nervously signed to Paul that he wanted to ask him something.
"Yes, baby? What is it? You seem scared." "Tell me what's on your mind."
Paul reached over and squeezed Tommy's hand.
In a hoarse voice, Tommy quickly asked if one of his ex band mates could stay over. "I prefer Pat, but Jef or Pete would be okay. Please!"
"Why would I be opposed to this?" "Yes, get in contact with them and let me know."
Tommy squeezed Paul's hand as their food came. He felt a bit better now.
"I'd like you to eat as much as you can, okay, sweetheart?"
Tommy managed 1/2 of his grilled cheese, all the fries and 3/4 of the soup. His throat was hurting from the tube. Indicating he wanted to sleep, he told Paul.
After getting Tommy back to his room and into the warm shower, Paul made sure Tommy had clean pajamas and socks ready.
It didn't take long for Tommy to drift off back to sleep.
