Arriving In New York

Around ten a.m. the next day, the train pulled into New York and stopped. Pat already had the bags in the floor so he could carry them off. "Tom, all you need to do is follow me. I have the plane tickets ready. We lift off at two."

"Could we just stay here? I don't want to go." "I wanna go to Cannon Beach."

"What the hell?! Why?"

"I don't want to fly! What if something happens and I go into labor early?"

"Tom, you're only what? Two months along?" "You won't go into labor this early."

Tommy looked like he was ready to cry. "But Pat!" 

Trying not to lose his mind, Pat had Tommy sit down on the floor. "I'm going to rub your temples, okay? Calm down. "

When the first boarding time was called, Pat led Tommy to the back of first class seating. He had secretly put a mild sleeping pill into Tommy's water. "Just relax and close your eyes." He covered Tommy up and buckled his seat belt. "Everything's going to be okay."

Luckily Tommy fell asleep before take off. Pat waited until he could call Paul and tell him. "He's asleep. He freaked out about going into labor."

"What?" "He's only eight weeks."

"I know. It's not going to be easy."

Paul told Pat about Gene's black eye. He promised he'd take over once he two of them were with the band.

Halfway to Europe, Tommy began to wake up. Pat gently squeezed his hand and tried to distract him. He told him about Gene's black eye.
