While walking to the pub, Paul asked Tommy if he wanted to play a few rounds of golf the next day.
"I'll be your caddy and carry the clubs or whatever golfers carry around. I promise I won't go anywhere near an actual playing area. What do you say, does that sound good?"
"It sounds like heaven. Paul, no offense, but I'm kind of leery about you being anywhere near a golf club." "My nose is just getting back to normal." "I mean, I love you but....."
"Okay, fair enough. How about you play a round of eighteen holes and I'll find something else to do. Not involving women or booze."
Tommy agreed and let Paul lead him to the pub. He had promised himself he wouldn't drink so he told Paul to just order him a water and tea. "I think I definitely need to stay away from Irish whiskey."
They sat down and waited for the wait staff to come by. Their waitress stopped by, catching both their attention. Tommy blushed and looked at the table while Paul was a bit more bold and made eye contact.
After placing their drink orders, Tommy squeezed Paul's hand a bit too hard but didn't say a word.
"I know, I'm sorry. " mumbled Paul.
"She's very pretty but you're taken." replied Tommy. "I'm not going to make a scene, but please keep it in check. It makes me feel uncomfortable."
Paul nodded an okay and changed the subject. He definitely realized going to Spain on tour was going to cause problems. "I'll just stay in the damned hotel room." he mumbled.
"You don't have to. I would just appreciate it if you don't ogle women in front of me." came Tommy's reply. "Please, let's not fight ,okay?"
Paul agreed even though he wasn't too happy with the bold statement. "I'll behave myself."
They came to a truce as the food arrived.
