Tommy started waking up after a few more hours had passed. He remembered Eric telling him he was in the hospital so he tried sitting up. Blinking, he collected his bearings and opened his unbandaged eye fully.
Paul was still dozing in the bedside chair as Tommy looked over. He opened one eye to gauge his boyfriend's reaction to his presence before saying anything. When he felt Tommy reluctantly reach out to him, he softly spoke. "Baby, I'm so sorry. It was a complete accident. You do know that, right?"
Tommy nodded before sliding to the side of the bed. He managed to stand up without wrapping himself in the i.v. line or falling. Pointing to the bathroom, he took the i.v. pole with him. Paul followed at a distance in case he needed help.
When the nurse came in, she had Paul read over the discharge papers with Tommy. "If you have any questions, let me know." "You can take the bandages off your cheek and eye tomorrow. The broken nose will take a bit longer."
"What about pain killers?" wrote Tommy on a piece of paper. He had listed several questions to be answered.
"We have several prescriptions ready to be sent. We just need to know where." She answered the other questions before handing over a stack of papers. "Take care."
Paul gave her the name of his pharmacy and signed the discharge papers. Putting a jacket over Tommy's shoulders, he held out his hand. "Ready?"
Another nod as they left. "Are you hungry?" "I can order soup."
Tommy squeezed his hand in response. He had a bad headache and felt like throwing up.
"We can go back to the b-n-b or home. It's your choice."
Tommy signed his answer to Paul so they headed back to the b-n-b.
Once they were back in the room, Tommy wrote out he was using the hot tub. He left the note on the bed for Paul who had gone to see if the kitchen had anything soft to eat.
Unfortunately the nausea mixed with the hot water didn't go too well. By the time Paul got back, Tommy was throwing up. "Baby, come here."
Paul got Tommy into the tub to clean him up. He talked to him while he cleaned him up. "Stand so I can dress you. You're going to bed so I can take care of you."
It took awhile but finally Tommy was in bed and covered up. He felt dizzy from all the nausea and pain. He tugged on Paul's hand to get his attention. "Yes, baby?"
Tommy made eating motions. He was starving.
"I'm going to feed you. How far can you open up?"
Tommy opened his mouth wide enough for Paul to spoon feed him. It hurt his jaw but he kept his mouth open.
Paul had called the pharmacy to give them permission for Gene to pick up the pain killers for Tommy. He had asked him to bring them to the room.
"You better be glad I'm your best friend." grumbled Gene.
"Thanks. I owe you dinner."
Around nine, Tommy drifted off to sleep so Paul headed to the shower.
He came out to find Tommy covered up with his fleece robe and on his side of the bed.
"Sleep well baby. I love you."
Paul leaned over and kissed Tommy's cheek before sliding in next to him.
When Gene arrived, he found both of them asleep so he left the pills at the front desk and texted Paul to tell him.
