On one of Tommy's rare days where he felt good, he decided to go look for accessories to add to the nursery. Pat had already painted the chosen room white with flower accents and stenciled a forest scene onto the walls. He was waiting on Tommy to let him know when he was ready.
"Pat, could you tie my sneakers? I can't reach my feet." He held out a foot.
"Your ankles are swollen. Are you sure these are the ones you want?"
"I can't put my boots on." sighed Tommy.
Pat tied the sneakers loosely and helped Tommy to his feet. "If you get tired, you'll let me know."
"Yes, mother."
On the way to the baby store, Pat asked if the other two babies had names yet.
"We have Taylor Starr. I was thinking Aurora Rose and maybe Hannah Colleen for the third. " "Much better than Draco Hellraiser."
"Draco Hellraiser?" questioned Pat. "What the hell?! Poor kid!"
Tommy let Pat lead him into the baby store. "I'm going to look around. I have a few ideas."
Pat kept a close eye on Tommy while looking for paint. "Tom, let me know if you get tired."
A few hours later, Tommy had finished picking out the furniture and was having it sent to the house. He wound up spending close to $3000 so he texted Paul to ask him know if it was too much. I WOULDN'T ASK, BUT I CAN'T FIND THE CHECKBOOK SO I USED THE JOINT CARD. I CAN CANCEL IF I NEED TO. LOVE YOU.
NO. IT'S FINE. SPEND WHATEVER. LOVE YOU TOO.
Tommy signed the delivery slip and found a seat. His head was spinning. Putting his head against the wall, he closed his eyes for a few minutes. He could hear someone calling him but didn't respond.
"Tom!" called Pat. "Are you okay?" "Open your eyes!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When he opened his eyes later, Pat was there. "You passed out so I had to call an ambulance. You're in the hospital." "You're hooked up to an I.V. so just try to lie still."
"W-w-what happened? I remember waiting on you and then nothing."
"Your blood pressure dropped too low. Other than that, you seem fine. "
Pat comforted Tommy while he tried to get comfortable.
"I want my husband." "He should be here." "I don't want to do this alone." snapped Tommy as a wave of dizziness overtook him again.
Pat agreed that maybe it was time to call Paul.
