Even though Tommy was asleep, Paul didn't want to leave him alone for long periods of time. He feared Tommy might bolt if given the chance. Not knowing what to do, he texted Gene, Eric and Bruce to meet him at the hospital.
When the three arrived, Paul met them in the hallway and gave them the rundown on the situation. "I know if he's not under constant watch, he'll leave."
Bruce suggested moving him to a private room on the lockdown floor. "I know it may seem to him like we're trying to commit him, but it has 24 hour watch." "He would have to sign in and out to just leave the room."
"Would that be the best thing though?" asked Eric. "I mean he's already messed up with being sick and all. Would it backfire?"
"Another suggestion is to see if the doctor would agree to keep him sedated to the point he's groggy all day and can't focus enough to think about leaving." put in Gene. "Paul?"
"That all seems so harsh. We may have to, but I don't want to resort to those.....unless absolutely necessary."
From the room, Tommy let out a cry as he woke up struggling to breathe. "PAUL!!!!" he cried.
Paul rushed in and over to Tommy. "Sh, baby." After he got Tommy calm, he sat him up a bit. "It's okay." He had hit the call button for the nurse.
Finally the sedation meds kicked in and Tommy was back asleep, propped up and covered up. His color was coming back but he was still pale.
"Alright, we'll opt for the continued sedation." sighed Paul finally.
Gene hugged him as the four headed to the cafeteria.
