After Tommy was showered and back in bed, Pat sat next to him. "If you want me to leave, I will. I don't know how you feel right now but I hate seeing you sad."
"I'll go to therapy. Now that I know what happened, I can start trying to get on with my life."
Pat squeezed his hand. "Good, I'll go with you. After all, I am the older one and I can still tell you what to do." he laughed.
"Ha ha."
Pat stayed until Tommy fell asleep again. Just as Pat got up to leave, the doctor came in. "Is Mr. Thayer asleep? I have updated test results."
"Yes, he is. Could you tell me? I'm his friend."
The doctor explained that Tommy's breathing test results were better but not where they needed to be. The antibiotics are working but he'll need to stay another two weeks or so."
"I was told the therapist would be coming soon. I want to be here with him. Do you know what time?"
"I believe we have her scheduled for Monday at ten. I can send you to her office to confirm that if you want."
Pat agreed and headed down the hall to the elevator.
When he arrived on the second floor, he looked for room 210. Finding it, he knocked on the door and waited. He waited for about ten minutes before heading back up to the 4th floor.
Tommy was still asleep so Pat left him a note saying he'd be back the next day.
