Paul had barely opened his eyes around ten the next morning when his phone started going off. "Hello?" he said sleepily.

The hospital had been calling.  Tommy had been through a rough night, not being able to breathe and constantly waking up choking and coughing.

Paul told them he'd be there as soon as he could, within the hour.

When he finally arrived at Tommy's room, the younger man was in the middle of a bad coughing spell. He was extremely pale.

Paul rushed in and took his hand. "I'm here baby. "

Rubbing Tommy's back, Paul pulled him close and talked softly to him. He could feel tears wetting his shirt. "Sh, it's okay."

Finally the oxygen started working and Tommy started gaining his color back. The doctor eased the bed up to a higher position and covered Tommy back up. "Let the oxygen fill your lungs before you try to speak."

Paul just continued rubbing Tommy's back and talking to him. "Don't try and talk, I'm here."

Tommy wouldn't let go of Paul's hand until he managed to drift off. The i.v. had a sedative in it, causing him to fall asleep within the hour. Paul waited a few more minutes and headed down for coffee and breakfast. He was still tired.

Knowing the sedative would last several hours, Paul laid down on the couch bed in Tommy's room and closed his eyes. He soon fell back asleep too.

It was around one when Paul finally woke up. Tommy was still asleep so Paul ordered room service. He texted Gene and Eric to let them know what was going on.
