I Can't Believe You Just Said That

In London Bruce finally found a cafe that sold American coffee. He ordered a large pot along with pastries and sat in a corner. He sent a text to Paul telling him where he was at. A few minutes later, Paul sat down next to him, eyes puffy. 

"Are you okay?" he asked. 

"Yeah, I think so. I went to wake up the other two and just as Gene opened the door, Eric sprayed cologne and it went into my eyes. He was trying to air out the hotel room." "That's what they get for screwing all night. Now it smells."

"I know. The moaning cat in heat woke me up at six."

"I wish I could get Tom to make noise like that. I don't know if I'm pleasing him or not. It kinda makes me feel insecure."

Bruce felt uncomfortable with the conversation so he tried changing the subject.

In Minneapolis, Tommy felt a headache coming on. He didn't want to tell Pat because he knew he'd be told to go back to sleep. Trying to hide it, he asked if they could go get a souvenir. "I want to get Paul something." 

"Sure, we still have 45 minutes." "What do you want to get him?"

A sharp pain caused Tommy to squeeze Pat's hand hard. "I don't know. Just a minute."

Pat gave him a sideways look but waited. "Hey, there's a small gift shop. You're not walking much further."

"I'm fine..... baby." mumbled Tommy.

"What?" 

"I-I-I mean Pat. I'm fine!" "I said I'm not a baby." he back stepped.

"Okay."

Pat knew Tommy was a lousy liar. "I'll wait for you out here." he said awkwardly. Knowing that wouldn't be the last time Tommy slipped up, he texted Bruce for advice.

HEY: TOMMY JUST CALLED ME BABY AND THEN TRIED TO PLAY IT OFF. HELP!

Bruce's eyes widened as the text came through. WHAT? WHY? DID YOU SAY SOMETHING OR ACT DIFFERENTLY TOWARDS HIM?

NO. Pat explained what was going on. WHAT DO I DO IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN?

Bruce sent some advice back and hoped Paul wouldn't find out.
