What Really Happened?

    Gene had been trying to get hold of Paul so he could clarify the phone conversation that had occurred the night before.

His phone kept being picked up by Paul's voicemail so he finally gave up. He heard Eric coming back in from the bathroom so he hung up. "Hey, Gene, we haven't heard from either diva or baby boy. Ya think they're okay?"

Gene told Eric about the phone conversation from the night before. "Paul's phone is off and  I haven't tried Tom's. Last I heard they were going to dinner. Paul's trying to get Tommy to talk to him."

"So Paul thinks wining and dining works on Tommy? It doesn't." Eric told Gene that the best way to get Tommy to talk was to let him initiate the conversation. "Of course Tom doesn't talk much anyway so good luck." 

"And Paul never shuts up. Like someone else I  know."

"Tom, don't shut me out. I do truly care about you being unhappy. I didn't take you out to dinner just to be nosy. I can do that without food involved."

Looking up at Paul from the left side of the king-sized guestroom bed, Tommy sighed and sat up. "I know that Paul. It's just......."

"What?"

"What if Gene and Eric find out you stayed with me last night and we slept in each others arms? I  mean, thankfully you didn't do what was on your mind, but still???"

Paul looked at Tommy and said, "Geneie and Eric can't judge. They are usually all over each other every chance they get. When Bruce was in the band he walked in on them in the storage room. Needless to say what he saw scarred him for awhile." "Look Tommy, we can get to that point when you're ready. Despite what you might think, I'm not eager to just jump someone because I find them attractive."

"I just don't know how I feel right now. If I start feeling better about myself, I may be willing to try again. Right now I'm scared."

Paul reached out and squeezed Tommy's hand. "Take all the time you need."

The two of them decided to get up and get ready to go out to eat. Paul swore Starbucks would go out of business without his daily presence.
