Chapter 19: Happy Birthday

Victoria drove off quickly as soon as she got out of her house. She sat on her Ducati and sped off. Her tears didn't stop for a long time. Before she knew it, she had already driven halfway through City Z. She continuously drove for 1 hour and 40 minutes. She finally stopped at the side of the road. Her head was also hurting.

She regretted going back. She regretted getting caught. She regretted opening the old wounds for all of them. After some time, she drove again and didn't stop until she reached her home. As soon as she entered the garage, she parked the bike, pulled out the helmet and gloves and put her keys on the key stand. Then she entered the elevator. 

As soon as she reached her room, she took out her clothes and went to take a bath. After coming out she collapsed on the bed.

All this while, she didn't notice there was a car that was parked outside his house. Today was her birthday so Oscar comes here first thing in the morning. He kept his watch on her to find a chance to spend some time with her. However, not long after he arrived, a Ducati drove in front of him and entered her garage. At first, he thought it was some man and was a bit jealous thinking that she might have a cool friend but then, he soon realized it was none other than Victoria from her figure. He was quite shocked at first but then he smiled broadly. He thought in his heart that she was so cool. Then again, he wondered why would she have gone out on the bike and for how long because she obviously didn't go out to buy some groceries or something in the middle of the night.

Oscar got busy doing his work through the laptop. He knew she may take hours to come out. After working for hours, he finally noticed the time. Seeing that it was already 1:00 PM, he thought that it was quite late. From the background check on her, he understood that Victoria was a downright workaholic. There wasn't a single day she would take a vacation and almost most of the time she would work till midnight. Even if she was sick, she would go to the office. She would only miss it when she was like on the verge of fainting and couldn't even walk properly. 

Oscar got worried thinking about that. Moreover, today she also had to go to the high court for a case. Anyone who knows her also knew that there wasn't a single case that she didn't attend to. Victoria never postponed any of her cases and was always there on the time. Once she had a high fever but still come to the court. That's how dedicated she was to her work.

After waiting for another hour, Oscar lost his patience. He easily avoided the watchman and the cameras before climbing up to the balcony. Of course, it was closed but Oscar knew how to open it. He was the sole heir of the Lazslo Corporation. Not only the rivals from the country but many people from the world tried to harm him. Therefore, since he was young, Oscar was trained professionally and ruthlessly. His training was really harsh. He used to be an innocent outspoken child. However, after this all, he turned into a mysterious man. Someone you could never predict. Someone who may not be the 1percent of what he shows. He was wise yet dangerous. Calm yet cool. Interesting yet suspicious. Kind yet cold. Frank yet mysterious. The chairman of the Lazslo Corporation was not just a simple high IQ genius. He was as the name suggest ' a glorious ruler' with a mystery surrounding him. He himself didn't know the extend of his capablities.

It didn't take him long to enter the bedroom. After entering, he calmly closed the balcony. Through the little light coming from the outside, he could see a figure wrapped in a quilt on the bed. Oscar carefully walked further. As he stood beside the bed, he could see Victoria. She was at the corner facing his way. She was laying on her right side. Gently, Oscar climbed the bed. Then he lay down beside her as he stared at her beautiful profile.  

Her eyes were closed. Her eyelashes were so long and so beautiful that he couldn't take his eyes off. Her hair fringes were slightly covering her face. They were near her eyes. Afraid that it was uncomfortable for her, Oscar gently pulled them behind. However, when he touched her face, it felt hot. Then he remembered that he had come to check up on her. 

Worried by the heat he felt, he put his hand on her forehead. It was scalding hot. 

" Damn it!" He mumbled to himself.

Oscar quickly got up and brought a towel with cold water in a bowl. Wringing it, he put it on her forehead. Then he quickly searched for medicines and found them. He was worried she would choke up if he just put it in her mouth. But then he noticed that her fever was so high that she wouldn't even wake up if he got her up. 

Therefore, he sat her down while he supported her. His hand was around her shoulders while she leaned towards his chest. Feeling her so close to him, Oscar didn't know what he felt but it was just an amazing feeling. 

He put the pill in her mouth before making her drink water. Victoria in a fainting state opened her eyes but couldn't understand anything. It was blurry and she was drained of her strength. 

For a long time, Oscar held her like this. She fell asleep while leaning towards him. He pulled her closer and hugged her tightly. Then he kissed her on the forehead and whispered.

" Happy Birthday... "
